How so? I'm seeing typically 4-5 threads active with each loading a HT core to around 50%.

There are some stuttering problems that can be dealt with by modifying the CPU affinities of the Witcher 3 process.

Sort of glad I waited to start playing now as there is a patch with various bugfixes, improvements and new graphics settings on the way.

Yeah I had a freeze in the inventory. I think you need to set the frame rate to unlimited to remove that happening.

Can the "press blah to blah" be removed? Also, does the detective stuff absolutely require the glowing "GO TO THIS PLACE AND USE THE THING THAT IS GLOWING!" Witcher vision, or can you figure it out in a more intuitive way?

For anyone on the fence, like me, there is a 27% off code at www.greenmangaming.com just for this title.

Brings total to just under $44.

Will be interested to see how this runs on Med/High for my rig.

"we do a certain build for a tradeshow and you pack it, it works, it looks amazing. And you are extremely far away from completing the game. Then you put it in the open-world, regardless of the platform, and it's like 'oh shit, it doesn't really work'. We've already showed it, now we have to make it work. And then we try to make it work on a huge scale. This is the nature of games development

Otherwise known as false advertising in every other industry, sure you can put a disclaimer saying that it isn't the final product, but I think we all knew that the consoles were never going to be up for the task. CDPR was never going to make two separate builds because they wouldn't get the funding for it, that's the bottom line for me, they shouldn't have "packed" it so much when they knew a PC version wasn't going to exist in the first place.

I honestly don't care a whole lot about graphics these day's, games now mostly come down to aesthetics, but the constant flip flopping is getting irritating, the ought to know better with respect to what they can realistically achieve.

In case someone did not read the interview on eurogamer here is info.

"Before I get into the nitty-gritty, know that a big patch with 600 changes - including improvements to graphics and graphical settings - was sent to certification today (Wednesday 20th May), and will take between five and seven days to clear. There will be patch notes covering it all.

In addition, CD Projekt Red will patch the game to allow editing of .ini files on PC, to push graphical settings even higher. You will be able to tweak grass and vegetation density, post-processing effects such as sharpening, and draw distances. The .ini patch will arrive soon after the other patch. "And we think about some other tricks but we need time," Adam Badowski says."

Jesus christ, will you people get over yourselves already? Tons of industries display concept products that either never reach consumers or are totally different from the end product. Anyone who thought that footage displayed two years before launch was going to perfectly represent the final product was a fucking fool, end of story. If you bought the game already, mop up your tears, shut up, and go play the damned thing. If you didn't then shut up and and tell yourself that you're superior to all the rest of us fools who fell for the hype, or whatever.

Great article with official statements from CDPR about the supposed downgrade.

Very candid interview and it puts to bed the whole downgrade nonsense. They're going to be releasing future patches which will increase graphical fidelity and give us more tweaking options, so in the end, we all win I suppose.

Bethesda did the same thing with Skyrim. There were pre-release photos coming out that seemed more detailed than how the game looked in the initial release. They released the high-res texture pack about three months later.

I'm annoyed that a good developer like CDPR is falling into the same traps as every other "hype first" type of developer, over promising and under delivering.

I think the graphics look great, especially for the world size they have made, I just don't like seeing a good developer like them getting all this controversy which could have easily been avoided. They didn't need to sell the game with graphics, its an RPG, sell the story.

I've said my piece on what annoys me with today's gaming industry and that will be it from me about that.

I liked the first two and I'm sure this is a great game too.

CDPR lied about it for months before the game was released. If you don't have a problem with it, fine, but don't call people fools for disliking being lied to. If CDPR handled this better and just admitted they bit off more than they could chew when they were asked about it (7?) months ago, maybe this wouldn't have blown up in their face.

OK, back to game questions:

"You already have this item."

So, why, when I am at 0/2 in my inventory for an alchemy object--let's go with a grapeshot, for example--I can't craft another 2 grape shots, even though I have the materials to do it?

The only way to make more, is to drop my "0/2 slot" of grapeshots, then I can craft another 2 grapeshots. ....what is this horseshit?

-----------------EDIT----------

OK--I think I get it (part of no more manuals being available, and tutorials happening at random times)

So, I guess this is how it works now:

You essentially need to craft each alchemy recipe only once: potions, oils, bombs, decoctions (no cock merchants anywhere...so that makes sense :hmm

then, when you meditate, all 1/2 or 0/2 or 2/3 or whatever inventory slots for each alchemy item will automatically replenish, for each unit of alcohest in your inventory. And it is only 1 alcohest to replenish all of your alchemy potions/oils/whatever, for each meditation. Best efficiency is to meditate with the least amount of items remaining. Though, it seems that alcohest is just about everywhere as it is. Not sure if I like this--way to easy anc heap to craft items, but then the world is supposedly huge, so it's one less thing.

That, and the meditation bits to drink potions were always completely annoying to me...so good riddance?

It feels very "MMO-y" I guess, would be my main complaint for this system. whatever.
