So, I have to admit surprisingly this game hasn't drawn me in much.

But I am only in white orchard still perhaps I am still somewhat in the "prologue" section of the game. Killed the spirit at the well, other than that just a bunch of little ? on the map I have been exploring.

And, my dirty little secret - I am playing this on a GTX 560 TI. HEHE, and it runs just fine on medium/low settings.

That being said the things I just mentioned could be the very reason the game hasn't really drawn me in yet.

If you want to see the main world and get to the main story, finish the quest line about killing the griffin. You can come back later to finish quests in White Orchard.

Totally forgot about DLC's for the past few weeks, got caught up on all of them now.

Game has solidified it's status as nr.1 I've ever played. It has the advantage of being the most modern game I played of course but it really set the bar high, I want to see the RPG that beats this or any other genre for that matter. It's been a month since it launched and despite being the only game I actively played, I have not finished it yet. Granted, I'm in total completionist mode but which other game comes even close in terms of both content quantity and quality?

Soundtrack is on DE:HR level too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8J9HXcOxrs

Honestly I don't know if I'll have any interest playing other rpg games. This one has really done it.

4million copies in two weeks. 1.3million of those were on PC. The game cost around 10mil to make for CdPr last I heard but could not guess their profit.
That was 3 weeks ago. I guess they must have sold a few more since then.

The budget is also a lot higher, I think. I've read the number $67M in a few places. Half of that was spent on making the game, the other half was spent on marketing. No idea if those numbers are correct, but they sure are different from the $10M you mention.

The marketing budget was much larger than the actual game, because of the low costs for the Polish dev team vs a world wide marketing campaign. The numbers I've heard thrown around were about 15-20 mil for the game, and 40+ for marketing.

Read that article from Forbes. Google the web. The numbers you will see everywhere are $32M to develop the game, and $35M for marketing and advertisement.

These numbers are in US dollars. Everywhere. So they are bogus. Poland doesn't do dollars. Poland does euros. The conversion rate of euro versus USD changes every day. (And has changed quite a bit over the last years). So whatever numbers you come up with, they will always be inaccurate in some ways.

The fact those numbers are reported in US dollars everywhere where I found them on the web, indicate to me that only americans are interested in these numbers. The rest of the world doesn't give a fick what the game has cost. We care that the game is fun.

Make dumb assumptions much? It took less than 5 minutes of backtracking sources to find that all of those numbers are based on one polish article: http://pieniadze.gazeta.pl/pieniadz...Trzyletnie_naklady_na_produkcje_zwrocily.html

Also cost of living and operating in Poland is much less. Advertising would cost just as much as the game. Have a friend over there that moved back a few years ago and he tells me everything compared to here is cheaper.

this is a weird post. just because they are posted in dollars doesn't make it inaccurate. the value of the euro/dollar doesn't really change all that much--well, i hasn't since the most recent micro crash fo the euro ~5 years ago. it's been relatively stable over several cents for some time.

....prices in US publications are always posted in dollars. That has never, ever meant that "numbers can't be trusted." this doesn't make any sense.

as for what the game cost and what it made--you're right. who gives a shit. It's a great game. that's what matters. Shit games and shittier movies make tons of money all the time. earnings aren't really an indicator of quality.

Don't see it. Secondary quests were good, main quest was so-so. Too much running around finding characters and not enough decent main quests.

Yea main quests are alright, secondary better. I enjoyed witcher 2 main story better. But this game has engaged me more than any other. Just a ton of content and in a way it all has a purpose to explore it.

I don't know where I read $10mil but that's what someone said. Maybe that was what a dev said it cost to develop the engine for the game I dunno. That number sticks in my head for this game for some reason. No matter...links to articles have been posted that say $35mil.

The score is probably the lowest point of the game for me. I want to like it, and I keep re-enabling the music in different areas in case it gets better, but the more I hear it, the more I hate it. There are very few games in which I dislike the music so much I'm motivated to disable it, but this is one. Tough luck for me I guess. At least the game has no shortage of strengths to make up for it.

I on the other hand love the score. Don't think there is a single track I didn't find something I liked about it.
