It's on sale now on newegg for $24.99 (any platform) with code ESCKNAN28.

I'm wondering, will buying a boxed copy screw up the pricing of DLC/expansions?

If Steam has some big sale on those, I couldn't get them.

If I remember, gog does allow registering it there though.

Otherwise, nice price.

I have a boxed retail copy, it uses GOG key, so any expansions/DLC you have to get GOG version,(boxed/retail wise).

I just got this game and I was wondering if it is worth downloading someone else's Witcher 2 save game or should I just start fresh? I read that downloading a save game gives you access to dialog you normally don't have. But, since I haven't played Witcher 1 or 2 I'm guessing I probably won't have any idea what that dialog means.

It's not necessary. If you don't have a save game, there are a series of questions you get asked in a normal dialogue that pretty much fill that info in.

New details on the last expansion Blood and Wine dropped today. It sounds pretty damn awesome and its coming this month, May 31st.

Link http://wccftech.com/witcher-3-blood...0-monsters-dynamic-system-mutations-detailed/

The Numbers:
• 30+ hour adventure. (Up from the original 20 hour estimate)
• Over 90 new quests.
• Over 40 new points of interest.
• Dynamic points of interest system. Killing bandits in their main hideout will affect the number of enemies in surrounding camps.
• 14000 lines of dialogue (Hearts of Stone had 6000).
• 100 individual pieces of armor (including new Witcher sets).
• More than 20 new monsters.
• New Game + maximum level increased to 100.
Armour and Weapons:
• New Witcher armour class ‘Grandmaster’.
• New armour merchant who is the only one able to craft this level of Witcher gear.
• Can get blue, hooded armour from Witcher 2, armour from Witcher 1, Ursine Witcher armour with furry pauldron that was in the artbook but cut from the main game.
• More than 30 new weapons.
• Can now dye armour. Dyes can be bought from a merchant, crafted or looted. Only obtainable in Toussaint. Pink is among the colours.
• You can acquire the golden, plumed armour of the Touissant knights, and the same goes for Roach!
New Mutation System:
• Mutations. 12 new abilities. Examples: Signs can have critical hits causing the enemy to explode, instead of dying Geralt is healed and has damage immunity, opponents knocked down by AARD freeze and die instantly. Can only utilize one at a time.
• The UI resembles Witcher 2’s character customization screen. Basically they’re super strong abilities/stat boosts that require mutagens and skill points to unlock. Can only pick one at a time but you have to unlock earlier ones to get the others.
• Despite unlocking it at level 34+ (recommended level to venture to Touissant) the system and anything you’ve unlocked carries over to New Game+ so you won’t have to unlock it again.
UI Changes:
• Greatly redesigned User Interface.
• Can now rotate Geralt in stats screen.
• Books moved to glossary.
• Upon looting a readable item a little notification pops up in bottom left of screen. Upon clicking in the right stick (on Xbox One controller), you can read the text of recently looted books, letters, notes etc without having to go to the menu, inventory, finding the right book and so on.
• Option to remove fish-eye effect from witcher sense.
Home Base:
• Geralt gets his own vineyard.
• It’s called Corvo Bianco.
• You can renovate it with large sums of money, the option I saw was for 5000 Orens.
• You can add a greenhouse of sorts where you can grow herbs for all your witcher potion needs, an armorer table, a stable for Roach (with its own stat bonuses), upgrade your bed, renovated interior and exterior, secret lab, guest room.
• Guest room where old friends will come to stay.
• Scaffolding and workers will appear after you choose to build something. Each change takes a certain amount of in-game time to complete, but you can just meditate til everything’s done.
• Can display your armour, weapons, paintings and books.
• Some paintings can be bought, or specially made, others are obtained through quests.

Got to say the 25 bucks I spent on the Witcher 3 Expansion pass was probably the best bang for buck DLC I've ever spent. Hearts of Stone was awesome and this is looking quite meaty.

All content CDPR labeled as DLC was free and their expansions were much like old school expansions. The amount of content CDPR released as free DLC would qualify as paid DLC elsewhere, the amount of content CDPR puts in their expansions would qualify as sequels for EA and Ubisoft.

3 weeks left, looking forward to it.

I got about 50% through the main game, and loved it, before I was distracted by other stuff and real life. (Grrr...) I didn't get the season pass yet, but I can see I'll probably want all the DLC. I'm going to have to pick this up!

I also got to almost 50% and never finished it. I kept getting distracted by side quests and then obviously life. I need to find time to get back to it.

I imagine many like the two posters above didn't finish the game or finished but skipped a lot of content.

The series got better with each release at newcomer appeal but it wasn't effortless as it is with other, IMO lesser RPG titles. The story with Witcher 3 wasn't as gripping as some past RPG's were, players got "the what" part easily but "the why" part might not have worked as well. The source material isn't as easy to digest for the uninitiated and CDPR as studio is still maturing.

I imagine they would peak if they were to make a fourth Witcher game. At this point I consider CDPR to be the RPG studio, I would trust them to get the most out of any source material, too bad they don't have rights to highly sought source material (ASOIAF, Star Wars, etc) to make games based on.

Anyway, here is some gwent music while we wait for the expansion to arrive:

CDP already was at their peak a while ago, certainly no later than when the Witcher 2 came out. And I am sure some think that The Witcher is the truly greatest game they ever made.

Unfortunately, mass appeal is a must for AAA games to be made nowadays.

I enjoyed the first two games but I'm definitely in the minority here.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love CDPR's work but I still think there was room for improvement. They have now truly raised the bar for RPG, I wish I were a fly on the wall when Bioware saw Witcher 3 and watch/listen to their reactions.

In my opinion, the top game to ever come from Bioware was actually probably Baldurs Gate. But everything up to KOTOR, and maybe Jade Empire, was still very good. Never actually tried Jade Empire, so I dont know much about how good it actually was. Baldurs Gate 2, Neverwinter Nights, and Knights of the Old Republic were almost as good as Baldurs Gate was, so they kept up their quality for a while.

Will this likely be the last expansion? I had a full queue of games and have kept pushing W3 off.. basically out of respect and a wish to play the fully fleshed out 'Game of the Year edition' if there ever is one.

Yes, this was all that was announced. I do not believe there will be more.
I still need to play through the first xpac... maybe will do a whole replay with all the expansions

The first expansion only briefly touched on some of the content from the main game story wise. Overall I think you could have played it on its own and not be lost at all which is good considering many people probably did not finish the main game totally when it released.

I spent roughly 90hrs which is what I'd expect from an AAA RPG. I'd take the Witcher II plot anyday over III though. Too much Ciri.

I was 135 hours in before my job forced me to stop playing and I had barely reached Skellige at level 34. I can't wait to pick this back up and play through both expansions.

Witcher 3: Blood and Wine is the conclusion to the Witcher game and there will be no more witcher after that. They will start work on the Cyberpunk 2077 game.

I'm currently level 19 and really far in Velen quests and exploration. I have a few quests in Kaer Morhen but no means to go there (no fast travel markers in KM)...

I suppose you go there later with the storyline?

And at level 19, there's still areas in Velen with ?? monsters...so I guess I should move to Skellige...can't wait to meet the vikings!

Awesome game so far, been a blast and i'm stomping everyone with my Gwent deck.

Yes you will get to KM when following the main story, as for monster level the game is designed that you do not have to complete 1 area, its built so you go back later when higher level.

Now there nothing stopping you from trying to go and kill the ?? level enemies

Are these expansions somewhat standalone, or do they integrate into the base game? I probably got through half of the capital and a quarter of Skellige before I petered out, and it's been so long I'd be tempted to just start over if all the expansions integrate into the base game instead of being a "do this after" type adventure (nothing wrong with that though).

They integrate into the base game. When Heart of Stone installed, a few quests to start the chain poped in my journal. So they seemlessly incorporate into the base game.

Actually you should probably go to Novigrad first, that will be a whole chapter in of itself.
