The Witcher nude patch?

Does this mean if we are in the US, we no longer need to order the overpriced UK uncensored edition?

I have not played this game yet, but was considering the UK edition because I think the censoring in the US version is the dumbest thing ever.

I'm not sure I understand what you want. The US version can have all the censored content patched back in, but you can order the UK version directly and save the time. It costs more though it's better to vote with your wallet against the censorship in the US version.

The game is not censored, the US government is the only group who has the power to censor something and they didnt do it, because they would have to answer for it. The game company CHOSE to edit the US version of the game of their own accord so as to not upset the delicate people of the country. That was a business decision and had nothing to do with government or politics and very little to do with conservative, uptight special interest groups.
There is no censorship in the US, you can show and say anything you want, just not everywhere.
You cant have fucking on broadcast TV but you can have it on HBO. Did everyone forget about their Real Sex series in the 90's?
The makers of Witcher could have very easily put out a game that made Caligula look tame. They chose not to. They didnt want a big fat A on the box because most game venues would not sell it. That was a business choice. Not censorship. Its a business decision for Walmart to not have Adult-rated games. Of course, I believe the publishers of the Witcher could also have ignored the rating system completely, to the best of my knowledge its not legally required. But again, the businesses often decide to not sell games without a rating. Again thats business, not censorship.

There is like 3 patches for The Witcher. The first is just a bug fixing patch. It's what the game points you at from the launcher. But, if you do a search on the site, you can find 2 more.

The first just adds blood effects back in the game. The second says adds the nudity back into the game. Or so says the description of both.

I downloaded the second, and fired the game back up out of curiosity. Got far enough into the game for the first little encounter, and the card still has no nudity. Now, perhaps that card in particular isn't supposed to either way. She is rather important to the story and all.

Or perhaps there an option somewhere to flip that I haven't. Or perhaps I managed to screw up the hands free patch

It will be a bit before I really get a chance to play it some more. I'm going to assume though, that the first card doesn't have nudity either way, and the patch actually does work

Make sure you get the right patch; I tried one that said it restored the game to it's original state, and all the female NPCs were naked all the time. This may have been before the EE came out though, do they have an official one now? I just want to play the game the way they intended, I don't want naked people everywhere.

If you have a legitimate, registered, copy of the game, you can upgrade the US version to the Enhanced Edition through a series of patches available on the official website. You'll have to install three things, if I am remembering correctly. First thing is an Enhanced Edition pack(you'll need an English language pack in the same directory, both are installed at the same time), the next is the 1.5 patch, and lastly is a Director's Cut pack.

The other two are largely irrelevant, but the Enhanced Edition is great because it restores the original story and voiceovers, replacing the stupid, short, and confusing mess that the censored version tried to convey. The director's cut will restore your nudity as well (Although I'm not sure why it's all that big of a deal... it's just some "cards" that you can look at).

My memory may be flawed, but that should be pretty close to the process. The whole process is detailed EXACTLY on their website though.

The US Director's Cut version does have the nude cards, but not all cards are nude. Just to confuse people I think the first card or two you get are non-nude ones.

There are obscenity laws, and not just public obscenity laws. Distribution of obscene materiel is a crime. Importation of obscene material is a crime. I don't know how you can say there isn't censorship.

The only thing you cannot have or view is kiddie porn, BUT, underage naked kids in not illegal. So I guess you are correct, we do have obscentity laws that do not allow us to view underage kids fucking but we can see them buck naked in an art gallery if we want.
That lady who photographed her kids in B&W on the beach? She was acquited. Sometimes we have to fight for it, and argue over it, but basically America is free. Even if we sometimes forget. If I need to shove you in China for 10 years so you can appreciate how good we have things, I would gladly do so.

And nobody has yet countered my original point, which is that the game is NOT censored. The company making the product decided to change the content, which is their choice. We're not going to force companies to do business how they dont want to do it, thats just silly. If the free people of America would stand up and fight the oppressors then game companies would not feel the need to edit their content and make it tame.

I purchased the less-gory US version and I plan to patch the gore back in once I start playing it.

UK EE version with bodily dismemberment: $50
US version + patch restoring gore + free EE content patch: $15 shipped

$35 might be worth the "message" to some, but not for me, considering the company provides US users with the ability to place the violence back in. The voluntary "censorship" implemented by the company is basically optional parental controls at this point. Many games have the ability to disable high levels of gore from the menu, this one requires a patch to enable.

Yep Max Hardcore recently went to jail because his videos were considered obscene. There's tons of things adult film companies(in the USA) won't put in their films because they don't want a seat next to max. It's not just sexually explicit stuff either that's considered obscene.
