Anyone get this working lately? I've tried over and over and they never send the activation email. Did the resend thing many times, three diff email addresses, nothing is working.

I can't install any damn patches without it being registered/activated !@#$%!~#

I have the retail box version, not that it matters, since you go on their website to register and I can't even get far enough to use any sort of code

I had the exact same problem, never got it fixed. I tried using the tages activator thing, even updated the tages drivers on my system. No dice.

Wait, are you trying to register the game or activate it? Registration isn't required as far as I know but you do have to activate it, which is what I tried to do in vain.

When I try to install the 1.4 patch, it gets to a screen thta says "The install will confirm if you have a properly registered game copy." Then an error comes up and says "Please register The Witcher before installing."

I don't see anything about Activation when playing the game unpatched, it launches fine and I can start a new game no problem.

So I assumed this is the registration (there is a file named register.exe in the folder), but I can't create an account because they never send me the activation email.

I assume you have a Canadian version with no registration code inside the manual?

You have to get the code from Atari technical support. It takes a few days for them to respond but they eventually do. I just mentioned that I had a Canadian version with no code in the manual and they provided me with one.

There is no other workaround to get your original (pre-enhanced) retail version patched to the enhanced edition.

Google the Witcher enhanced edition registration and you should find the link to Atari technical support - they have a link set up especially for this.

Hope this helps

Actually my manual does have a code (looks like a cdkey) on the back, which I've never had to use, and see nothing anywhere that prompts for it.

Well, seems like I only need that code when I register, and you have to register to install the 1.4 patch. Which I can't do because they have not sent an email activation email. Lame.

OK if you have the code from your manual you should have everything you need. From the launch screen after inserting your disk, you should see an option to register. I believe you need to both create an account and enter your activation code as part of the steps.

You shouldn't have to wait long to get confirmation of your account creation - you do have to activate it once though. I'm not sure why it isn't working for you.

Once you've gone through the process, it should create a registry entry showing that the game has been registered which should then allow you to patch to version 1.4 enhanced edition.

For me I was missing the cd key from the manual which is why I had to contact Atari. The account creation was no problem though.

Agree it is a pita, especially when you already bought the game.

Are you guys talking about the original Witcher or the EE version? IIRC, EE is already 1.4.xx.

I have the same problem, I installed the original version again last night. I tried to update to the new 1.4 patch and it asks to make an account. I still have not received an email so I can activate that account and install the patch.

its a huge pain.

Yeah TokyoJon, I registered on Sunday morning and still no email. Their email activation sender must be broken. I can't find anywhere to contact them.

I got my email in about 15 seconds....maybe something is broken, or it's in your spam folder? Perhaps try another provider? (I used gmail)

Whoa there... You only need to:

1. Have an account on The Witcher forums
2. Register your copy there

And it is only required for patch 1.4 (so the Enhanced Edition). The previous ones don't need that. And you can either buy a new copy with EE already in it (and then you don't need any registration) or get it for free if you prove you own the game (ie. register). Is that too much to ask? Seriously... some people...

Is registration too much to ask? Not really, if I didn't keep getting the "your code is invalid". Then, trying to go to registration support, I get the "HTTP 404: page not found" error. So, what can I do? I bought Witcher2 enhanced edition from Walmart, but can't validate the code. Other than that, the game runs great on Windows 7 X64, AMD phenom 9750 quadcore. Would like to register the game though, can anyone help with that?

EE already has the 1.4 patch, is there some other reason you need to register?

Not really, it just bugs me that the code that is included in the package comes up as being invalid. Being new and package never opened, the code should come up as being valid. I tried different ways, the "S" or "Z", which ever it is, tried them both, "G" or "6", tried them both. In the long run, probly doesn't matter, would like to have it validated and registered in case there is future patches that I may need, without going through a lot of hassels.
