I'm loving this game as well, just can't really say many bad things about it minus the horrible load times and the strange cut scene choppiness that I get on my rig.

Poorly optimized ? It runs 30fps avg on my 8800gts 320mb and x2 3800+ @ 2.6ghz, resolution 1680*1050. This is with AA disabled though, for some reason I can't enable it, but it doesn't bother me. It prolly runs better then NWN2 and looks better ...

Yes runs good and bad at times. Almost every cutscene has chugged, I do need a new gfx card so we'll see what happens after that.

Finished it. This is the first game in a long time that exceeded my expectations. I'll probably play through again for a different ending later, after the game has been patched some more and that pesky loading has been pared down.

I'm loving this game. Except the crashing and loading and autosaving hah.

Runs amazing at 1680x1050, 2xAA, 8xAF, max everything. 8800GTX.

Definately not a game to run through just to have it beat. All sorts of little things you'll miss.

Wow, I dont see how ppl do it. Game a comes out touted as having 10000000 hours of story/gameplay what have you. Next day I see a "so I beat game a" post somewhere on the net.

I'm still on act 3,doing as many side quests as possbile and exploring every possible area,the gaming hours for this game is long 60-80 hours they reckon.

True I probably lost a good day due to crashes etc but now that's sorted have wasted no time in putting a lot of gaming hours into this game.

Some of the choices you have to decide on are morale choices ,or what you think is the right side,not always easy but keeps the story going.

I have a lot of free time on my hands at the moment... I put in a good 12 hours a day. In total, I'd say it took me at least 40 hours, and I didn't rush through it.

The replay value seems pretty good... although the endings don't appear to be that much different.

Since when did 40 hours of gameplay become a bad thing? If a game gives 20-25 hours of gameplay then I'd think of that as pretty okay. I mean, I'd love more, but that's what you get nowadays, if you get that much at all.

thanks ... i will pick it up when i hear about its issues being resolved .. a couple of months, you think?; i'd prefer a used European copy.
--i am playing HGL like you ... easily over 60 hours since ... well not long ago [*all day* Saturday - 'till it crashed 4AM Sunday Morning ... then back up to play it 3 hours later

No DX10, but the graphics look pretty good by my standards... much better than NWN2 and on par or even a little better than Gothic 3.

Incidentally, I also gave it an 8.5 in my review (before Gamespot's came out) and quite a few people seem to agree with my assessment.

I'm not reviewing the game, another editor is, but yeah, I could totaly find myself in rating it between 8-9. Good gameplay, lots of replay value imo, good graphics, decent sound to say the least, and pretty refreshing as well.

Nope,however I'm quite happy to run in Windowed mode(only have a very thin blue line showing along top) and stability is now very good,only had one crash in 3 days.

Yep!....I'm on Act 4 and still got plenty to do and the story is still interesting.

Ok, I played the game for about 2 hours yesterday. You guys were right--this game is bitchen! There is a lot to love about this game, that's for sure. The first time I saw the Skill Tree/System I was like !

It gets better especially from Act 2 .

Ok I'm going to sound like a pervert here. But I bought the import version from gogamer to make sure I got the uncensored version. After seeing my first sex scene, I thinking I got censored version. Not sure what I expected but the card with the lady with a cat sitting between her legs didn't look like it needed a 18+ rating to me.

That's the most tame one by far. They become more pronounced later on. Abigail is a good example.

Odd. I ran in to my very first cave/crypt quest and there were these snake-like creatures protruding from the ground and attacking me. I fought one, striking him over and over and he wouldnt die.

I used a little magic but that didnt do anything--what am I doing wrong here. I didnt have time to go back and try a new strat., but I imagine I'm not using the right weapon maybe?

This was the cave located right next to the castle in the first area of the game with the pub and the plague (following the intro area).
