No oils applied, and I was using fast. I tried to go to strong, but I couldnt really hit them.
because in every other department The Witcher is an intelligent, adult and thoroughly compelling adventure.
In that regard, The Witcher is a benchmark RPG. It does not belong in the hands of the younger set, if for no other reason than its adult themes. But it is precisely the latter aspect that makes this game so compelling. It feels alive. And even when you?ve made a choice and see the results as they work out in the cut scenes and environments, you begin to realize that what CD Projekt has created is a living, breathing world.
The Witcher is not without some problems, but it is a terrific RPG experience.

Just FYI, Atari cut back significant portions of the originally planned dialogue in ALL the English versions to save money on voiceovers.
It seems you can restore the full, unedited dialogue by changing 'Language=FinalEnglish_Short' to 'Language=FinalEnglish_Long' in the Witcher.ini file.
Of course, the voiceovers will not change, just the text.

Good of the dev to put the original text on there.
I'll likely pick up the UK version of the game soon, but I would prefer to run the game in full screen mode, with as much stability as possible.

Yeah I was crashing every hr or so in Vista. Ran it in XP instead and have yet to crash. For me, every game to date has eithe performed better or was more stable in XP vs Vista.
All in all, there is a lot to say about the Witcher, but even more to do in the game and exploring each area thoroughly is a truly rewarding joy. It also does a very good job of flattening the rocky road of third person RPGs left by its predecessors, despite having its own flaws.
If you are an RPG fan, don?t hesitate for one hour, minute or second about buying this!

I haven't really had an issue either, with vista 64x and 8800gts 320mb. Only thing I know of is that I think it crashed when I quit playing the game, but that's not really an issue, coz I was quitting anyways
It'll be interesting to see what the real cause to the crashing is

I ordered the import edition of The Witcher from gogamer.com and it came in a nice DVD style case...the game is a blast and a true RPG for rpg lovers like me . I've had no problem/or crashes running it on my Vista 64-Bit/8800GTS system with patch 1.1a. Infact the load times are even fast for me, around 5-8 seconds.
