downloading a program is 100 times easier.. he could've stumbled upon it in a forum and just downloaded it.

indeed. When i was 10 or so (8 years ago) i was messing around with programs like these.. i didn't know what loopback was. Even now, some of my friends who claim to be computer nerds don't know what it is.

Yeah it seems kind of like a fake... it depends how recent this though. I don't think it's easy to nuke someone's computer like that any more, the security holes that are still existent on unpatched PC's are nowhere near as huge as the ones from the Win95 days.

There are some "exploits" these days. Some stupid kid was threatening to "hack" my computer in a gaming chat room. I discovered his IP, found out he had a public FTP server running on his PC with full permissions granted to all of his drives the guest account so I deleted some stuff. I wouldn't call that hacking though... it's more like taking advantage of someones stupidity.
