doubtful, the radeon 9600se can match the fx 5500, the 9600 vanilla matches the fx 5600 vanilla, but in dx9, the fx 5500 is as fast as a 9200 lol

I recently recieved the latest TigerDirect catalog, and according them the world's fastest GPU is a PNY Geforce FX5500, and it just got faster.
I would have put this in the Hot Deal section, but the item is no longer available. They must have sold out quick since the world's fastest GPU was only $29.99.

The 9600 is better than a 5500. I think they came out with the 5500 to compete against ATI's 9550, a cheap Directx 9 card. It wasn't even as good as Nvidia's older directx 8 cards. So even when it was new, it was definitely a low end card.
You expect some b.s. in advetising, but that is beyond ridiculous.

And when you compare the Radeon 9550 with the 128-Bit bus and the 9600 vanilla, they ran almost identical. There' s some Radeon 9550 with 64-Bits BUS that simply sucks. What is strange is that many sites that says that the 9550 core is the same as the 9600 PRO, so overclocking could be easily done, but in the ATi's website, it describes the chip as a SM 2.0b card, like the X8X0 series, strange eh?
