I like how it says, "Can you live without one?". The obvious answer: No, no I can not.

doubtful, the radeon 9600se can match the fx 5500, the 9600 vanilla matches the fx 5600 vanilla, but in dx9, the fx 5500 is as fast as a 9200 lol

I had a 9600 Pro and I bought a FX5500. I can say without a doubt that the 9600 will run slaughter over the 5500 any day of the week, in DX7, 8 or 9.

people really need to know that the FX series is now 3 gens old, and is perhaps the worst series NV has ever produced. theyre just down right ******.

creative branded FX series still sell in some high street stores here....and they sell for a premium too!

My friend had a GF4 Ti4200 that blew and when he returned it to the store the card they offered as a replacement was a FX5200. The tragedy was he accepted.

The 9600 is better than a 5500. I think they came out with the 5500 to compete against ATI's 9550, a cheap Directx 9 card. It wasn't even as good as Nvidia's older directx 8 cards. So even when it was new, it was definitely a low end card.

You expect some b.s. in advetising, but that is beyond ridiculous.

I would have put this in the Hot Deal section, but the item is no longer available. They must have sold out quick since the world's fastest GPU was only $29.99.

Are you on drugs mate?? It's more like the same as a 9200 going by old reviews I have seen. A 9600 is miles faster than a 5500, and will beat a 5600 too.

My brother bought an FX5700 a few years ago for around $150. He couldn't get it to work properly, thank god, and I told him to return that POS and spend a few more bucks on a 9800 Pro for $180. Needless to say, he's STILL using that card today and can play almost all the newer games at 1024. That has to be the greatest card of our time.

And when you compare the Radeon 9550 with the 128-Bit bus and the 9600 vanilla, they ran almost identical. There' s some Radeon 9550 with 64-Bits BUS that simply sucks. What is strange is that many sites that says that the 9550 core is the same as the 9600 PRO, so overclocking could be easily done, but in the ATi's website, it describes the chip as a SM 2.0b card, like the X8X0 series, strange eh?

Yeah, weird, I take it that it is a full 9600 core though, and many peope have given it huge overclocks, pretty good budget card IMO!

a fx5500 is a slightly higher clocked fx5200 with a 128bit bus, its slow as nothing else

thefx5600 = 9600, fx5700 = 9600 pro, fx5700 ultra = 9600xt

in heavy dx9 the above ati cards are much faster.
