While I hope for the safe return of American hostages, they placed themselves in dangerous situations often against the advice of the US State Dept.

Giving in to the terrorists (or any other kidnapper) is a fools game. You can't win, you're just encouraging more similar actions in the future because the perpetrators believe there is a reasonable chance of gaining something valuable (release of someone, money etc).

Bottom line, it's an easy decision, I'd say "absolutely not, consider her dead, she's not getting released, ever".

Far as negotiating with terrorists goes, it's a problem if we strengthen their position. If only because it puts more lives at risk. The greater good mandates that we isolate and dismantle the terror network, not pay into it.

Sadly, these are precisely the kind of folks that end up in leadership positions and provide proof positive that the folks who promote said personality types are of the same stripe and are suffering from the same malady, thus perpetuating this cycle of corporate madness.

War is war, it isn't much of a deal that 1 person was kidnapped if they knew the risk they took by enlisting.

This is why I don't get involved with the government because they place you on a board like a chess piece.
