1. The Naked Lunch

i watched this a few years ago when it was free on Hulu. i didn't get a feeling of 'this is the worst movie i've ever seen' - more of a 'what the fuck did i just watch?' normally with a reaction like that i'd watch it again or some parts again but not with this one.

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes

It was intentionally made to be awful, and that's why it's so good. It's a great movie, because it's the most god-awful movie in existence.

I beg to differ, although I guess if you like horrible stories and ridiculous story-lines then you might like such a movie - I can't believe IMDB ratings give it a 8.0 when i watched it was like "WTF" I was totally expecting a good horror like flick along the lines of halloween or jason or something....

You don't have to beg... I'll just point out that just as you can have a differing opinion about the movie. Others are free to bump it up to 8.0 on imdb. Which imo it does deserve.

Of course it could be argued that most horror has ridiculous story lines. The Cabin in the Woods offers up a fictional explanation for those cliches and actually provides a logical conclusion to the story based on the information that is given to the audience.

It's a deconstruction of horror movies and yes if you just wanted a straight up horror movie then yeah I can see how you wouldn't like it. However, doesn't deserve to be ranked with the worst movies ever. At it's very worst it is average. It's usually much better than average.

I don't see how you could expect that if you had seen the trailer. It was really more of a sci fi/mystery, keeping you guessing what's really going on. Very unique movie and well done imo.

That movie is seriously in my top five greatest comedies ever. Leguizamo is a god but most people can't process his style. That movie is an example that gets better and better the more you watch it. You are able to catch all the little things you missed the first time because it goes so fast.

Pre-Netflix this might be an interesting topic, but with all the cash grab films that copy major releases (Transmorphers, etc), there are literally hundreds of 'the worst movies ever'.

Movies like Attack of the Killer Tomatoes are actually quite good compared to those.

I'm quite fond of really bad horror movies. The campier the better. I loved Rubber. I helped to fund the Mano: The Hands of Fate HD restoration. But ThanksKilling is just bad. It has been a while since I could not sit through a movie, but this one made me turn off the TV and leave the room.

Obviously this is a totally subjective topic, and for my money some of the movies people raise as the "worst," because they are commercial flops, are really not too bad (e.g., Ishtar or Hudson Hawk). Personally I thought Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes was about as awful as anything I've ever seen. He has to be the most overrated director in Hollywood.
