Right now my xbox is acting weird. I can put in a totally scratched up game and it will work flawlessly. I can then put in games that look brand new (still rentals..havent tried a new game yet) and I hardly get 5minutes into the game before it will say i have a dirty disk, sometimes even before the game gets stared it does this.
Anyway, I hate paying to have people fix this for me because I know if it CAN be fixed then it often costs near as much to fix it as get a new one. So, ive learned how to open my xbox, and how to get everything out, but before i actually open it up I would like some opinions.
First off, i think that if I clean the lens on the dvd player it will help a fair bit. I had a similar problem as my xbox on my computer dvd and cleaning the lens fixed it up real nice. Should I actually try this on the xbox? or does the lens have nothing to do with it?
Second, if the dvd is broken on the xbox, is it possible to replace it? I heard that the dvd has a xbox specific cable attached to it, and I dont know exactly how different the xbox dvd is compared to a normal dvd player.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.
ps...This is one of the first ones, and I hear a fair bit about how they can cause more problems. Lowsier dvd's, etc.
