Unless they start doing more camera shots of the cheerleaders, they're going to lose a lot of viewers. Who wants to see a group of has-been NFL players who've been cut or college stars who never were quite good enough to make it to the NFL play anyways. They're not entertaining, their overtime rules are lame, and they have no skills (have you seen them tackle? or should I say, try to tackle?).

<< Jesus Christ can someone tell me what that means? >>

Yeah...it means that the WWF and XFL are obsessed with style over substance. Sorry but flashy(ugly) uniforms, half naked women, and announcers that think an average tackle is "a brutal hit" just don't cut if for me. Put a better game on the field and I'll watch but as long as the XFL is all about showmanship and not football I will never watch. Apparently most of the population feels like I do since the ratings have gone down every week.

Sorry man...the XFL is dying!

Mostly because the XFL is suck!

XFL is whack.
Draging on the football season for the hardcore.
Just not satisfying.

I actually had a chance to catch part of the game this saturday since I was sick and couldn't go out, and I have to say it really isn't that bad. It obviously isn't up to the skill level of the NFL, but I've seen much more boring televised college games. I think if they raised the skill level a notch I would start recording it.

Football season is supposed to go out with a BIG SHOW, called the SUPERBOWL.

I'll never understand whoever invisioned XFL.

Probably just a bunch of greedy business men that see $$$$$$$$

LOL, I hope they loose ALL their MILLIONS!

NFL = Sugar
XFL = Sweet-n-low

There's just no substitute for the real thing.

I wish people would quit trying to reinvent the wheel. :Q

If the XFL doesn't make it, the whole WWF corporation (sorry...don't know the official name) is doomed. Although wrestling has a very strong foundation in grass roots fans, it's mainstream popularity will dwindle. Vince, being the smart business man he is (arguable point here) tried to diversify the corporation's offerings to maximize growth, and thought branching out into football would be a good idea. I can't make a good prediction about the XFL now, but I know that if it doesn't make it, the WWF corp is in for a pretty rough ride. They will no longer be a growth company, and in fact will be a company with dwindling prospects - their stock will take a dive and they'll probably be bought by a major TV corporation (NBC, ABC, Fox, CBS, etc) interested in using WWF simply as a TV show and not as this whole entertainment franchise it is trying to become right now.

You are way off GL IMO.

WWFE has tried non-wrestling products in the past (one that comes to mind is the WBF, or World Bodybuilding Federation) that failed pretty badly. There's also been Icopro, the nutritional substance, he's thrown concerts and boxing promotions which have gone nowhere either.

None of that however has stopped the WWF from gaining the popularity it's always enjoyed. The WWF have even recently signed lots of new talent with great work ethics and all have the ability to reach superstardom. Financially the WWF is very stable, as they are a billion-dollar company, and even with that being the case most of the XFL investments are from NBC.

But you have a point, if Vince just wants to stubbornly convince all the media out there (which I don't see him doing as he doesn't care at ALL what they think) that it would stick around longer than projected, he will lose much money, and will spend too much time working on it that the quality of the WWF will drop (I know using "quality" and "WWF" in the same sentence is just asking for trouble). In the months leading up to the XFL launch, fans have complained and blame it squarely on the XFL. People have even accused his daughter Stephanie for the somewhat of a failure PPV they put on a few months ago with Survivor Series.

So although I'd like to see the XFL succeed just so those who bash Vince just because he's Vince just shut up, if it's going to harm the WWF, then it should fold.

But Vince is a guy who's taken guys that NO ONE's ever heard of, that people thought would be living on the streets after a few stints into world renowned superstars. Would you believe "The Rock" was once booed out of buildings, because he just sucked badly when he was supposed to play the role of the "good guy". Guys like Steve Austin, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels were never expected to do anything with their careers, but 20,000+ seat arenas have sold out in minutes just because of the promise that Austin would show up to the show.

And when WCW had Austin, he was essentially a "bench warmer". That was when Vince took a hold of him, and made him bigger than life.

Damn, the XFL is going straight down the toilet!

Bob Costas even said it was just a combination of high school football and a strip club. That's how bad the XFL is, it needs half-naked women to sell it.

Unfortunately, GoldenBear and all the other XFL-enthusiasts, ratings are key in prime time. Networks don't give shows "rebuilding time". Did Deadline or The Michael Richards Show get refined? No. It was cut instantly. It may be different for the XFL, since so much money was invested in it, but Vince basically promised advertisers a rating right around 4 or so. And if the trend continues, he'll be far from that next week. Advertisers will drop out (if they haven't already) and the XFL won't be more than a thorn in NBC's hand.

The XFL was/is a failure at the stadiums and it's soon to be a failure on TV.

<< This 'product' will have to be refined over time, and with NBC and WWF backing it >>

Ten points to Tagej for successfully using the words "refined" and "WWF" in the same sentence.

<< The WWF is far too valuable to sacrifice in favor in the XFL. >>

Ditto to Goldenbear for "valuable" and "WWF."

<< Bob Costas even said it was just a combination of high school football and a strip club. >>

Bob Costas would bash a little league game if McMahon was behind it.

But since it seems you're into MEDIA comments, read what Peter King had to say about it..And Peter King is perhaps THE most respected football writer out there..

<< That's how bad the XFL is, it needs half-naked women to sell it. >>

Did you SEE the game on Saturday? Did you SEE what was broadcasted? It was the FOOTBALL game, and

Just because you say it 2,425,235 times doesn't make it true.

<< The XFL was/is a failure at the stadiums and it's soon to be a failure on TV. >>

I suppose if you consider the Demons selling 25,000 season tickets BEFORE the season ever started, BEFORE anyone knew ANYTHING as to what would happen, a failure, then yes, it's a total failure.

But I've yet to see how the XFL is a DISGRACE to football. Perhaps you'd like to clarify on it?

I've seen better backyard football games than the crap the XFL is trying to peddle as "EXTREME FOOTBALL." They are trying so hard to make it seem extreme that the clown announcers make every tackle sound like they just tore someone's head off. Face it dude...the league is a joke and that's why people can't tune out fast enough.

I like watching the XFL. I would bet most of you bashing the league haven't even watched a game yet. It's been 3 games, whoopdy-fvcking-do. It's a work-in-progress. I'll continue to watch it because they have a fixed a couple of things I didn't like about it when I watched on the first weekend. The most important is the camera angle behind the quarterback, which sucked IMO.

They do need to get new announcers though. They need to put "Coach" up there, or hire a professional or something, someone who announces all the time for college games or something.

If you didn't think the finishes of the games in the past two weeks were DECENT at the absolute VERY LEAST, then I really question you as a football fan.

And your statements would mean just a tad more if you said more than just "IS SUCK" and resolving to 8-year-old insults.

Until then, you'll be ignored.

<< If you didn't think the finishes of the games in the past two weeks were DECENT at the absolute VERY LEAST, then I really question you as a football fan. >>

Don't ever question my love for the game of football. I've been a fan since I was 6 in 1976. I also played up until a semi hit me my senior year in high school and destroyed my knee and ended my playing days and what what was going to be a scholarship at a Division 1 college.

I know what real football is and the XFL is NOT real football. It's a bunch of has beens and never will bees out trying to make a buck. Does the fact that they aren't high priced football players make up for the lack of talent? Hell no!! Don't give me all this "they are playing for the love of the game" BS either. Most of them were probably working minimum wage, or not much better, jobs before this league started up.

Were the endings to some of the more recent games entertaining? Somewhat, but then again if you give a couple of 3 year olds a ball and tell them to shoot hoops it's going to be interesting for a few minutes as well. If the XFL were a quality product it would survive. It's not, so it won't.

Hmm, I thought I heard it all, but you're comparing the XFL players who've put all their heart into this thing without ANY money before the season started to three year olds?

It's as big of an insult when I wrongfully accused you of not being a football fan. I can understand how much it means to you.

What the hell is this? Do you not realize that these people bought these tickets based on hype alone? That they were pretty much guaranteed a game of hard-hitting, better than any NFL game could produce? Your post is a contradiction. You answered the XFL problems with repeated use of BEFORE. Read your statement again, and you'll see how redundant it is.

GB you just refuse to read anything in a post except what you want to read and feel you can pick apart. You are easily the most irrational person I have ever had the dishoner to deal with online.

What I was saying...oh hell...never mind...you'll just ignore any facts that I say and hear what you want and then twist the words around. You wouldn't by any chance be one of Bill Clinton's illegitimate sons would you?

You said their attendance (or something similar) was doing badly. But obviously with 25,000 season tickets sold in SF, that can't possibly be bad can it?

Yes...in a stadium that size it is. Hell you could round up 25,000 queens on any day in SF and get them to come to the stadium for a KY and dental dam giveaway.

Dunno about the league's future, but I was one of the first to jump on season tickets for the SF Demons and had a blast on opening day. The only problem? Pro football beer prices...
