The XFX GTX280 @ $450, is it worth getting now?

As I was surfing around the many pc shopper websites, on the net, I am across what I think is a steall right now, for the GTX280. On brand, the XFX GTX280 is being sold for $450 at this website: XFX GTX280 @ mwave.com

Is it primetime to get it now? or should I wait till after the release of ATI's 4870X2, for when prices will go even much lower? or will it?

I picked up the Superclocked EVGA for $449 after a $10 MIR.....it looks like that is where the prices are going to settle for now.

Just wait the 4870x2 is coming out, and there still might be better deals on the GTX280 once it's out. Also there are still reports of people getting bad GTX280, where they overheat. That would suck to get a DOA and have to wait for a replacement, not to mention paying extra for shipping, and still not knowing if the next one will work. Then again you might get lucky have no problems and maybe this price will stay at $450. Also there's rumors of the GTX290 55nm. One things for sure the prices aren't going up.

Some people are not ready to buy yet, but at the same time they're having a hard time waiting. Lot's of great deals out and waiting is sometimes hard. Honestly there's no great new game out to rush and buy something right away.

I predicted the on july 14 that they would drop to $399 in short order. I'm going to revise that downward to $350. 4870 is ~ $275 AR these days, gtx 260 is a few $$ lower than that, and in a couple weeks the 280 won't be the top dog any more so won't be able to command the pricing high ground.

The price is about right, in Hong Kong, it's now selling for $3300 - 3600 hkd, roughly around $450 usd. It doesn't look like there will be potential to go any lower for a short period.

Phew, down to $350 though? I can see $400. I think until nV has a new high end design, they'll try to make do with a GT200 55nm refresh. Higher clocks will help, and depending on where 4870 X2 price settles in at, the refresh should be around $450ish?? Who knows though.

Pretty amazing few weeks we've had though. I sold my 4850's, broke even, and am now waiting. I have my sights set on an X2 but man these price cuts sure are tempting. I prefer single gpu but am just waiting. You're right though, prices are still in flux on the nV side. Imagine what the board partners and The Egg are thinking right now.
