What has been going on?

Oatmeal posts funny, original comics.
Oatmeal's funny, original comics "end up" on Funnyjunk with no credit to the author.
Oatmeal calls out Funnyjunk for hosting his work uncredited. (basically, copyright infringement)
Funnyjunk takes down Oatmeal's uncredited work.
Funnyjunk sues Oatmeal for defamation, saying that the call out (which caused Funnyjunk to remedy the copyright infringement) was libelous because Funnyjunk just hosts user posts as is not responsible for the users' individual copyright infringement
Funnyjunk offers a $20,000 settlement (which could be viewed as legal extortion)
Oatmeal raises $20,000 with the pledge to donate it to two different charities, but only after taking a photo of it to send to Funnyjunk, along with a drawing of Funnyjunk's attorney getting made love to by a bear (or something like that)

Oh, and Funnyjunk's attorney accuses Oatmeal of using Funnyjunk's name to illegally boost it's search engine ranking, allegedly as evidenced by an ASCII pterodactyl embedded in Oatmeal's web page source code (WTF?!?)

Everyone knows the site is going to implode and nobody cares if they get banned. They want to keep the admins busy banning everyone. LOL. People are leaving in droves. There's already a reddit page setup for everyone to move to after they jump ship.

I think that by posting porn on their site - and demonstrating that they take it down immediately - shows that the "but it's the users who upload stuff" is a pretty weak excuse. If The Oatmeal sued FunnyJunk, and I were on the jury, the owner of FunnyJunk would be penniless.
