Thermal Pad on FOP32-1

I ordered an FOP32-1 and it came with a pink thermal pad on the heatsink. How good are these? Should I leave it on or use some paste I have at home. It's about 10 months old, but it hasn't been opened since I put it on my Celeron 366@550 in March. Which should I use? I got the paste at Radio Shack.

Anytime I have used the tape and then gone back to repencil the bridges or whatever, the pink goop is completely gone from the HS area in contact with the core and is usually clumped around the edges of the core. It may leave a fine layer on the core. I can't seem to see it

i think the thermal pad should do fine.
i personally scraped off the pad of my fop32-1 and applied some nice arctic silver to it.
