Thermal Paste????

I have a few questions about it.
1. Do I need it on a duron 850, I have the Volcano II?
2. If I do need thermal paste can I run it without the paste for a few hours a day for a couple days, with just the clips?
3. What kind of thermal paste is the best per price? I know Arctic Silver is good but I won't be overclocking so do I need it?

not overclocked then yes you should be able too, but if your overclocking don't even think about it

Paste doesn't really get that expensive, I think its worth getting some Artic Silver. That way you have some good, well cooling paste if you ever need it for another CPU or whatnot..

it costs less than $20 with S/H, and it will keep your 850 running for a long time

Definately use something. Preferabily Arctic Silver II, but plain old silicon paste or a thermal pad will work too, if not overclocking.

I would not run a Tbird or Duron without thermal paste. Others have done it, and they are ok, but temps get pretty high, almost to the dangerous levels.

My Silly questtion, why do we need thermal Paste? the thing came with heatsink isnt good enough?

If your HSF came with a square piece of thermal padding on the bottom, then that will be fine if you don't plan on overclocking. Thermal paste (especially Artic Silver II) works much better in transferring heat, so you should use it if you plan on overclocking. More heat to dissapate.
