Hi,
Anyone know how the two of the above Heatsinks will perform on an xp 3200 chip?I have an AX-7 but its alot older than the Silent Boost and am a confused on which to go with. Any recommendations? I know there are better ones out there but I would just like an opinion on these 2.
Thanks,

I'd take the AX-7.

The silentboost is somewhat better because it's a copy of the newer Thermalright SLK series. But if you already have the AX-7 I would say keep it.

Ok...... I installed and tried both and to my amazement the Silent Boost is reporting an idle temperature of 47 C on an xp 3200 chip on A7n8x-E board and at full load around 55 . The AX-7 is reporting 45 C idle and 53 C full load. Looks like a difference of 2C. Do the 3200's run this hot though? That seems quite high. My ambient Case temp is around 21C. I got a good Antec Case with about 5 fans. Airflow through the front and out the back is the exhaust. I really expected alot more out of the Silent Boost. Maybe its because the fans only spin at 2500 RPM not alot of air flow and I have yet to figure out how that fan can come off of the Silent Boost cuase I don't see any screws. I was thinking of either replacing the fan on the silent boost with a tornado (ofcourse it wouldn't be silent any more; OR replacing the Fan on my AX-7 which is like a Sunon (not sure of the CFM) I beleive with something more powerful.
Opinions?

Mid 40's is totally fine for idle. That's what I had with an SP-97 and a Nexus 92mm fan.

Happy to report after I took out my AX-7 and cleanit it really properly with compressed air and pressue washed it I reapplied Arcitc Silver and Bham down to idle 41C and 46 Full load. Not too shabby for the AX-7. The Silenboost was brand new too but had me up in 48 idle. I think with a higher speed rpm fan on the silent boost with a little more CFM it could do better. But ofcourse thas why i think they called it a silent boost. Thanks for all who responded.

Wow! That's pretty good! I wouldn't have expected that from an AX-7. Matter of fact, I have an SLK-800U/Panaflo U1A combo that is giving similar results: 37C idle - 47C load ((1.775 vcore)(2500+@3200+))
What fan are you using on the AX-7?
The SilentBoost will perform better with a different fan. I am using a Panaflo H1A on mine.

What fan are you using on the AX-7 adn at what RPM? The AX-7 cooling depends alot on how fast the fan is spinning. IT needs alot of flow to cool really well. Its all about how much youneed nd how loud you want it.

For all who wanted to know which fan I was using:-
It's a 80 mm Sunon. Not too sure on the RPM but it gives about 42 CFM from what I read on looking up on the specs. It could be 3200 RPM. Closest match I could find to it was here.

Well you ahve room to add more fan speed. However once you are into the 3000 RPM range the noise goes up alot which most people don't like, myself included.
