I have looked at some reviews comparing some of the best hsfs and it seems like the Big Typhoon even outperforms the xp120

Any opinions on this cooling solution?

Looks-wise, it doesnt look nice..
Doesnt give me the impression that its that great.

Thermaltake fans are usually quite dodgy anyway.

Id reserve judgement until after Ive read a few more reviews.

I've recommended it more than once but there are a lot of thermalhaters in this forum.

If money is no problem I would go with Zalman 9500 anyway. If not I think you can't go wrong with the Typhoon.

Read the article......if you can call it that......

Nothing absolutely 100% conclusive to say...

I think it goes good with the DFI lan party series and it performs very well, keeping my overclocked athlon under 55 at max load.

By the way you can still have 4 sticks of ram if you use this rather than the xp120 and the 120mm fan is very quiet at max load.

I'll still put the Swiftech MCX6400-V up against any of these HS/F units. And the mounting system blows 'em all away too.

Thats the worst thing that i forgot to mention about the Typhoon. Although I love the looks and very low noise. I HATE the rediculous mounting system.... It takes literally 20 - 40 min to line everything up, and screw it in. Not to mention that in most cases you have to take the mobo out completely, then do this sort of balancing act trying to screw the retaining bracket in without messing up the seal of AS5. There is also no way to tell how hard to tighten it because the metal plate starts to bend if you don't screw it in evenly or too much.

In short: pros are that it is the quietest fan I have, rivaling my nexus when they are both at max, it leaves all RAM slots open, and it performs excellently at cooling my OCed A64. Cons are that it is freaking huge and heavy and the mounting system is the worst I've dealt with.

I have the big typhoon, the fan is *very* quiet...only does about 1300 rpm and is difficult to hear working. The installation for me was honestly a pain, because of the huge size. More so if you use a p4 system, which means you have to remove the motherboard to install. Performance is very good imo....and if you don't mind noise, you can use more powerful fan and get pretty much top of the line 'air' performance.

Used the Typhoon and it's just as a good as the Thermalright XP series. It's quite cheap as well comapared to a XP in price. The only problem is, figuring out whether or not it will fit in your case( X-Qpack users take note).

With the price being $39.99, I don't see why anyone wouldn't pick it up. Unless that person is a zealot...
