Thermaltake or Panaflo?

Is this fan really that good?

21 dBa and 52CFM looks too good to be true, anyone has this fan? How quiet is it? Push a lot of air? And, Will it fit my XP-90, its 90mm not 92mm

Would you recommend this or the Panaflo 92mm?

I wouldn't be surprise if that fan is a Panaflo. I can't find the PDF for that specific fan...

The fan on the Silent Boost is also a Panaflo... so it looks like Thermaltake might be rebadging them.

One thing for sure is ThermalTake's claimed CFM versus DBa ratings are almost laughable.

And with my experience anyway are not very good fans when compared to Papst, Sanyo Denki or Pansonic Panaflo's.

Given a choice I would take a Panaflo versus a Thermaltake 100 out of 100 times.

If you're cooling a Winchester with an XP-90, I'd look no further than L1BX 92mm Panaflo. Buy one here.. This one's a no-brainer.

Btw, I have a $2 Sanyo Denki fan right now with my XP-90, its pretty sturdy but bit loud on the max RPM, hoping this Panaflo is quieter?

I also had to do some good old saw'ing to this fan to make it fit the clips on the XP-90, since.... how to explain this.... instead of 8 individual holes there are 4 holes, with each corner hole being connected on that fan.

Woo, $3.85 shipping = $ 11.84 total. This is a done deal. I'll be ordering this a bit later on tonight for sure!

Hope you enjoy it :thumbsup: It's much quieter than a 36 dB fan. My typical CPU operating temp range went from 30-40º C idle-load with a louder, higher output fan to 33-43 with the L1BX, a bit higher, but the silence is golden. Worthwhile tradeoff IMO.

I might add that I have one of the 92mm silentcats mounted with the included aluminum funnel on a 80mm heatsink. I have the Silentcat on a fanmate 1, running @ 1750rpm. pretty much inaudiable.

Have had 2 panaflos and been very happy with its performance. a 92mm and a 80mm one

the 120mm fans, lots of people say panaflo, but what if my case doesn't support that fan, it's 120mmx120mmx25mm, not 35mm
what's a good 120mm fan that's 25mm thick?

Why doesn't anyone ever mention Zalman fans?
I've been using the Zalman ZM-F2 and a Thermalright SLK-900U for about two years now and I just inserted the noiseless connector RC56 dropping the noise level very well. After 2 years this fan is running quiet and it can be found for cheap too.

I just wish they made them in 120mm sizes. In fact I will let them know.

i have a silverstone FMC3XW 120x25mm fan and it has been real good, nice and quiet when on low and even pretty quiet when on high blowing 103cfm (it has a fan control mounted in 3 1/2 ba). i would reccomend it, i usually stick with panaflo but since they dont make a 120x25mm, this one has worked out well.

Zalman fans, while better than average, are only medicore fans. They seem to save their good fans for the heatsinks or something.

I find they seem to have an aggressive motor noise. my 92mm Nexus at 1500RPM and my Zalman 92mm at 1600RPM, the Nexus is by far more quieter.

The Enermax adjustable fans are reasonably good fans...Excellent case fans for sure...I really like being able to adjust the fan speed to get a good noise balance between them and other fans.

But for mission critical applications like the heat sink fan my weapon of choice always falls to either Sanyo Denki or Pansonic Panaflo's.

Maybe your Zalman fan is newer and made in China. I'm gonna take a look at mine as it's about 2 years old and may have been made better than their current supplier.

I have 2-80mm Thermaltake Smart fans. they each come with thwir own RPM control knob. They are nearly silent at 50% speed (which is what I leave them on. and they still move alot of air!

But at high speed they are VERY VERY LOUD. But if you leave them at 50% or less, they are as quiet as any other fan.
