Thermaltake Radiator barbs

Hello, I need to know what kind of barbs the thermaltake 120mm radiator uses. Is it G1/4" threaded for barbs? I need barbs that will fit this radiator for 1/4" ID tubing. Preferably cheap. Thank you.

Not a chance, the threading you need is 1/8". It is the same thread used in electric fixtures like the stem in a lamp.

so the only place I can get barbs is at a hardware store? I'm surprised they would carry watercooling stuff other than tubing.

i need to see the radiator.

there are 2 versions of the TT rad. One is a alu heatercore, the other is a standard pipe radiator.

The heatercore version takes G1/4, while the standard heatercore one will take the G1/8.

A picture or link of the product would greatly help.

is that all the parts thats going into your machine?

If thats the case, ditch the TT rad entirely, and keep the heatercore and the MCR120?

The TT rad is alu and a complete POS comapred to your heatercore and MCR120.

Also by introducing ALU to a Copper loop, you risk corrosion. To fight that you need to drop a ton of additives in your water, which can hinder your cooling performance by as much as 5C.

Forget that TT rad, and stay with the other 2. I highly doubt you'll need it unless you intend on using multi loops. And if thats the case, i suggust you just pick up another MCR120 instead.

No, the rad in that picture was given to me buy a guy that was selling all that stuff. I don't have the other rads.

Aigo, that is the rad for the bigwater, copper tube. Gnr, open it up you will see the tubing w/ alum fins. I didn't know TT made an alum rad. Here is the alum POS.

I believe that's the radiator he's sending me. WoodButcher do you have any spare barbs for that that will fit 1/4" ID tubing?

It would be faster/ cheaper for you to go to Radio Shack or the hardware store but sure, I'll send them out if you want. Wait till you get the rad and be certain of the threading. From the hardware store you'll pay $1.50 - $2 a piece, In what state do you live? I'm in CT, I just sent a small package to Groton, CT and that was $5. Probably more than the barbs cost.

No prob. Don't forget to try Radio Shack, I have seen them there.
Aigo said that TT uses 2 different threadings and to say the least he is the local "WaterGuru" so untill you can verify the threading of your radiator, I wouldn't buy anything.
Just out of curiosity, what are you cooling w/ this rad?

The loop will go like this.

C2D E4500 M0 stepping to TT rad, 8800 GT then to 2 dual 70mm rads, back to the cpu again.

if you want my honest opinion, the setup is just not worth it. I also think you mean dual 80mm rads? I dont think they make a 70mm radiator.

Your best getting an MCR120 for 33 dollars and use that for the CPU loop only:

And aircooling the 8800GT. Your going to majorly stress the system with those equiptments and your project may not be worth it. :\

I got all this stuff for next to nothing as a first project for watercooling. Yes they are dual 70mm rads from coolermaster. And right now, they're cooling everything fine. I only have 1 of the dual 70mm rads in and the 8800 GT is loading at just 35C. I'm waiting to add in the other rads until I can get a rad that will cool it inbetween the cpu and the GT, which is what the TT rad will do. It doesn't have to be great. And I wanted this for the emphasis on the cheap factor. I can't afford 30 bucks for a single radiator right now.

Ummm... im kinda lost on your parts. What is your pump? I hope your not intending to use the pre existing pump on that setup.

Also what cpu block do you intend on running?

Yes they're aquagate vivas. They have quite enough kick for the setup. I know they don't seem like much, but they do work pretty well. I took off the pre-existing tubes and replaced them with clear ones and added pentosin G11 for anti corrosive. The aquagates may have a bad rap for being weak and not being able to cool, but I know from first hand experience that that isn't true. I'm not cooling a quad and 2 8800 GTX's here, just a E4500 and a 8800 GT.
