ThermalTake Super ORB sucks??

I had a modified Alpha PEP66 w/ a YSTECH FAN that kept my 1.2TBird at a balmy 31'C at idle, toping out at approx 49'c max while playing CStrike, problem was that the fan was loud, so i picked up a TTSuperORB in hopes that it would live up to it's reviews..(most say the chrome ORB sucks)but the super ORB had dual fans and alot of metal so it seemed good, after modifying it to fit my KT7R, i booted up to find that my cpu was sweating at 60'C!! I checked my install to make sure the contact was 100% and used the same silicone stuff i got w/the alpha so I was totally dumb founded to find out that there was nothing wrong with the contact..Please be careful when using this cooler, It does not work well..and I am out 25 bucks,

Yeah.. it's what I hear.. check out Mikewarriors sig.. look in any thermal related thread, and he'll be there.. check his sig out for the low down. Are you on a Socket A setup? I think you are right?

I have the super orb on my sustem with a T-Bird 900 and I have never seen it over 47°C. Even after playing UT for hours. At idle its about 29, and full load its usually 45.

I have heard both reviews on it, and so far its OK. Not great, but it gets the job done.

In all honesty, the heatsink isn't very good. especially not for 1.2ghz t-bird use.

Mikwarrior is right. Much better Coolers for about that money

The SupaOrb provides the best bang for the buck, hands down. I love my Agilent ArctiCoolers, but a $10 to $15 price difference is not worth it unless you are in need of room and the SupaOrb just won't fit. The SupaOrb fins can easily be bent about with simple tools so that they can be moved out of the way of capacitors and such. >>

I don't overclock my Duron but the Superorb keeps it really cool to the touch. It may not be as nice as some of the others, but it doesn't cost 40 bucks either. If you had read reviews, you would know it is not suitable for chips 1GHZ and over. Do your research before complaining about a product.

How's he supposed to know that when reviews like the Anandtech and HardOCP ones place the super-orb up at alpha quality and performance level?

Or when thermaltake claims that it will work with t-birds up to 1.5GHZ?
