I am thinking of getting the Thermaltake Tsunami for my new rig. I have read a bunch of positive reviews for the case, but I was wondering if anyone here who actually owned one could give me their views on the case.

Also, why would they put in a 90mm side intake rather than 92mm? Where would I even begin to find a replacement for the fan and grille???

the side fan is interchangeable with the 92mm fans i believe.

overall i like the case, the only problem i have with it is the noise, but i'm working on replacing the stock fans

The stock fans are a problem??? The specs I read were 2x 120mm & 90mm @ 21Dba. Did Thermaltake lie, which wouldn't surprise me.

If you could swap out the 90 for a 92 I would be all over that, but are you sure it's possible?

this is the case i used for my girls computer.
the rear 120mm fan whines the front one is good though. i just ordered a replacment fan for the rear.
its not the best case for alot of hardware changes. i have to remove the fan on the cpu heatsink to take the powersupply out.
the top opening where the usb and sound ports are is flimsy plastic and she broke her's in about a week.
the side panels are extreamly thin and noise is an issue.
it does however look great and has decent airflow. drive mounts are good as well.
overall i give it a 7 out of 10 its not bad but i wouldn't buy another one.

i love it
i can sleep like a baby with it on
have not found any issues with space
pretty quiet for the most part
no problems with fans
perfect for lans
dont throw it down a stare case, and you should be good
( btw, i have never dropped, it's my child )

Had one, personally, didn't like it. Loud sometimes difficult to work with and build not "all that". Gave it to my oldest boy for his system because he liked it......4 months later he wanted a P180 like I had because his was to loud.........not inheritantly bad it's just there's much better available especially if quiet and cooling are your goal.

Thank you all for the reviews, that really helps me. My first choice was the Cooler Master Wavemaster, which is almost a clone of the Tsunami, but the air cooling was terrible so I went looking for something else.

Anyone have any ideas of a good case that stands out design wise, and is either pre-modded or ready for modding?

Literally I have every single hardware part ordered for my new rig, except I can't find a case.......

The Wavemaster is tough to beat in its price range, and if you are willing to mod it, it will do a admirable job at cooling quietly. The original Praetorian is identical to the Wavemaster inside and is similar outside, sans door. It also has a much better intake grille that allows for decent airflow without needing to bring out the dremel. The downside is there is no space for a 120mm fan- not much of an issue in the front, but a 120mm exhaust is clutch for cooling. You could easily fit 92mm fans in all of the 80mm spaces with a little cutting/creative mounting, though. If you like front doors (or don't mind them), the newer Praetorian (730) has cutouts for dual 80mm exhausts and a 120mm intake. Either way, the Wavemaster or the Praetorian models' quality is excellent through and through.

The Tsunami is a good case, but as mentioned above, I simply did not find its overall build quality to be on par with the Coolermasters in the same price range. It does cool decently, but at the expense of noise. Not a bad case but not worth $90-100, IMO. There are many Tsunami users who would disagree with me on the quality comment, but having owned one and compared it side-by-side to two Coolermasters, I stand by my opinion.

Got an X-Fi with frontpanel or other equivalents like fan controller, etc. with knobs sticking out? => forget it, the door does not leave enough room to shut properly...

Well, it looks like I am back to the drawing board. This is why I come to the forums to ask about a case. You read these reviews on reputable websites like Anandtech, X-Bit Labs and they give these cases great reviews. Then, you talk to the actual owners and find out the case sucks. They bought it and they don't even want it.......

Thanks for all the help and advice.

The biggest beef that I have with that version of the Lian Li is that there is no dorr to hide your ugly bezels. I hate looking at them and much prefer a door.

What do you guys make of the Lian Li PC-6070B Plus??? Has a door for starters, lol...I can't find any reviews on this case....

It's still on my list of possibilities, but the PSU setup kind of turns me off. I don't know why they couldn't just make it like a normal ATX setup....

Are you sure it's 90MM, I replaced the stock one with a 92MM fan and the stock is the same size. The model # of the stock is TT-9025A.

Just measured the stock fan, it's 92MM. At least mine is.

Well if you own one, then I would have to say you know better than myself. I was going by the specs from several case sites, and I just checked the Thermaltake website, and it said 90. But 92mm sounds much more the likely size as 90mm is impossible to find...So I would say you are right.

I own a tsunami. I love it. Looks awesome, lots of room in there for expansion. easy drive installment. easy to work in.
looks really awesome ...+++++

needs fan filters.
not a lan party type case.
if you are using a huge heatsink/fan on the cpu you will have to remove it to switch power supplies.

If you want something that looks awesome and is easy to work with for the most part... its a good case. I got mine for 100$ shipped on some newegg sale.

I own a tsunami. I personally do not like it. It is too loud for me panels are flimsy but it does look good. The removable drives work well, but it is a litte too short and my hdds over hang the mobo a little bit. That bugged me because my gpu ends right at the hard drives aswell. For extra cooling I added a 120mm blowhole, and took out the mesh for the fans
i replaced all the fan with coolermaster LEDs. It looks cool but i would not buy it again. I am going to replace it with a Lianli v1200b. Then im gonna make this one a tank and make it silent.
