He lives in Palo Alto, though.

Actually my condo/townhouse is in Sunnyvale which I thought was the cheap area. I do live in Palo Alto though.
I don't think 250k is a lot nowadays; at least it seems like that around here in the bay area. Prices have been rising and pretty much all properties that come on the market get snapped up right away and many with multiple offers. This is driving the price up at a pace that no one has seen before.
I purchased my townhouse/condo last year in March for 791k with 20% down. I just re-financed and with the bank re-assessment, I found out that the value is close to 1.29m. Apparently the townhouses nearby with the same floorplan were going for that price and its still climbing?
$250k is a lot but not a whole lot IMO. But I guess it might be a lot more elsewhere.

There are some stinking rich folks in Asia (developing countries) and they are spending money as water.

When I was there recently, I saw a brand new GT-R, loaded and all. It would be at least $300K USD (import cars are about three times as expensive as in the US). Then Lambo, Ferrari, Bentley, etc. You can very much find a luxury car brand name over there. Oh, those rich folks would pay the whole vehicle with cash at once, no car finance over there.

Then the stink rich females are into LV bags and luggages and other luxury brand names for women.

Don't mind them having those cars. Just wished they weren't playing Need for Speed IRL with them. Although, that seems to have died down in these parts.

Do you know ANYTHING about SoCal? Or are you just spouting out of your anus cavity as usual?

If you're too lazy to tell me why I'm wrong, how should I respond to this?

Find me a decent house in a safe neighborhood a worker in LA can afford on 100k a year.

First of all, have you even been to California? Lived here for any amount of time?

Second of all, define LA, are you talking about Los Angeles, the City? Or County?

Thirdly, what do you mean the Inland Empire is not a safe area? Which area? And what do you mean by not safe?

Answer my questions and I'll show you how you're just spouting out of your ass.

I have visted many times, but never lived.

LA metro area.

San Bernardino metro area. Even outside of being safe or not, it's a terrible inconvenient place to live if you work for the LAPD.

So basically you don't know much about CA then.
LA metro area.
So the city of Los Angeles then? Because most hicks when talking about LA, think it's a small city even it's a pretty big city; but when you're talking about a county, it's freaking huge.
San Bernardino metro area. Even outside of being safe or not, it's a terrible inconvenient place to live if you work for the LAPD.
So now you're talking about San Bernadino metro area... right then. So a city? Or county? Because first, you're talking about Inland Empire, which is San Bernadino county. Or are you talking about the City of San Bernadino?

I have a friend that works for the LAPD, he's a detective, he lives in Riverside, which is a city in San Bernadino county, part of the Inland Empire. (see how that works?) It takes no longer for him to get to work than for me to get to my work (I currently live in SF, my work is also in SF). If you want to talk apples to apples, then we'll compare commute time in comparable cities and "inconveniences". Nice divergence from the safety issue though...

Alright, let's do this again, and this time, be precise in what you're talking about. City or county? It's not that difficult.

As melting-potty as we are in the NY area, I'm so glad we don't have the same California issues with this and Mexico invading.

Money is relative...

There's TONS of American citizens that have $40K+ cars and a household income of (at best) $120K. So that means their car purchase is 1/3rd of their yearly income.

If you spend $250K on a car, and your household income is $2.5M, that's only 1/10th.

Who spends more foolishly?

Commenting on this a bit more. You know what I don't mind? I don't mind them bringing their money here to spend, I don't mind that they're trying to get an education in the US where their home country cannot provide. I don't mind them buying the cars, but I do mind that they're bringing their driving etiquette here to the US.

Increasingly, I see driving behaviors that mirror those in mainland China, basically there are no rules, and they do whatever they want, because that's how they're brought up. They have no awareness, no driving skills, no recognition of the rules of the road here in the US. You can see this anywhere there's a high concentration of SE Asian immigrants, particularly Chinese.

And you know what's worst? Their damn Driver's License are bought and paid for just like everything else. They don't even need to know how to read the damn signs.

Just buy an old Ford Bronco and ram the little douches if they don't follow the traffic signals.
