They'll have to pry my Cap'n Crunch from my cold dead sticky hands.

Let's hope that other cereals that are excessively high in sugar content follow suit.
This.

So they're going to retire Cap'n Crunch because all those retarded people still blame the food and not the people eating the food or giving the food to their children making them market it less to children which obviously will make it lose a lot in sales.

I love Peanut Butter Crunch and these stupid people that blame the awesome food instead of their own actions need to die.
Removing the cause is a simpler solution than removing the problem in this case.
If there's no junk food, then there will be one less blame in poor eating habits.

Fuck that shit! This is some nanny state bullshit if I ever heard it.

All that means is that they are using the nostalgic boxes from yester-year (haven't you seen them?) and no longer marketing it o kids with animated commercials during Saturday morning cartoons and stuff. You guys are unaffected. Kids don't like cereal they've never heard of and adults will wax nostalgic.

It's just like the "Throwback" Pepsi products (Pepsi, Mountain Dew, etc w/cane sugar).

I picked up some PB Crunch this week, I love how it came in a throw back box. DELICIOUS cereal and stays crunchy until the bowls empty. Unlike nasty Golden Ghrams which turns 50% soggy the second it comes into contact with milk.

When I was a kid my mom only let me eat Cheerios & Grape Nuts, better believe I was pouring sugar into the bowl to give it flavor. By your logic we better ban sugar too.

I loved Cheerios and Grape Nuts without extra sugar when I was a kid. Sometime Grape Nuts seemed too hard and bitter, but they were usually good.

They're not killing it. (The company said themselves they're keeping it)

Fuck you OP.

On DDD this chick made French Toast that was breaded with crushed up Cap'N'Crunch. I think I know what I need to make for breakfast this weekend.

the article said they're no longer marketing it, not that they're going to discontinue it. OP fail...

I never claimed they're discontinuing Cap n' Crunch. The article talks about Quaker retiring the cereal and it's stopping the marketing of it. The title is a crack at the current administrations effort to get people healthy.

Ugh.

From the article:
According to research by the Rudd Center, when compared to cereals adults eat, "children's cereals contain 85 percent more sugar, 65 percent less fiber and 60 percent more sodium."

This statement is bullshit, and it always has been. Nearly ALL cereal is high in calories, carbs, and sodium. I don't know what constitutes an "adult's cereal," but nearly all of the cereals are similar in nutrition. Some cereals substitute some refined sugar for something else, but they all have nearly the same net amount of carbohydrates per serving.

Examples of "kid's cereals":
Peanut Butter Crunch

Fruity Pebbles

Examples of "adult's cereals":
Cheerios

Grape-Nuts

I could go on, but I'll stop for the sake of keeping this post from getting too long. The point is, people need to stop saying shit they have no clue about. Cereals aren't your best dietary choice, no matter what variety you choose.

If you want a truly healthy cereal, you need to make your own oatmeal (and not that shit they call instant oats).

The difference is the type of carbs. The "adult" cereals are high in complex carbs, while the "kid" cereal is high in simple sugars. The "healthy" oatmeal is high in complex carbs also.

Cheerios with two heaping scoops of pure granulated sugar. Then after the cheerios were gone, you would scoop the sugar out of the milk and eat it. Then finally, drink the sugar-sweetened milk. Man, it was great being a kid. If I did that today, I'd go into insulin shock.
