Thieves Snatching Purses at Gas Pumps

Just wanted a reminder for everyone out there to be as careful as possible. Lock all doors except for the driver's at gas stations & shut the windows.

it's brilliant, frankly. Nobody locks their doors at the pump. Doing that means locking the gas cap cover in some cars too. Now all women will have to hold their purses while pumping gas.

Sounds like a scare story to me. My guess would be that purses are taken at a much greater rate in other places. Places less likely to have good camera coverage like most gas stations do.

Still, it only takes a second to hit the remote lock button and secure the car.

My car only unlocks the drivers door when I park, unless it senses someone in the passenger seat. But I don't carry a purse anyways, kinda surprised you guys do.

my brother had a soft top jeep...asshole thieves would still slice the plastic windows open to unlock the doors even though all they had to do was unsnap the buttons if they wanted to get inside...

In NY I'm not even allowed to have my gun with me outside my home. Even if someone broke into my home I would not be allowed to shoot to protect myself unless I have no route to retreat and I can prove intent of intruder wanting to kill or harm me. What am I a mind reader?

Even then you'd be likely to be thrown under the bus in civil court no matter how ridiculously justifiable the act of self defense would be.

If somebody is in your house that's a different story, but yes you have to feel your life is threatened in order to use deadly force in MI...

My state does not allow outright defense due to property, IE you can't say "I shot him because he was stealing my purse"



You CAN, however, say "Anyone bold enough to enter my private vehicle is enough to cause me to fear for my life". If it's a woman she would likely not be charged. I doubt that any jury in my state would convict. It would depend a lot on the circumstances.


I know for me, personally, to go into my vehicle you would have to 'get through me' IE cause me to fear for my life.

Yet another case of someone who ONLY cares about color of skin whining about..... color of skin. No one cares anymore, btw. Haven't you heard? Trayvon is dead and his shooter is a martyr. It's easy, don't want dead? Don't attack people or their stuff.

I'm gonna call stupid that anybody doesn't. Aside from it being reflex to lock my doors when I get out like someone else said, the door should be locked any time you're not in direct control of the vehicle.
