Thin HSF for a Newcastle?

Is there such a thing? I'm tired of listening to the stock cooler on my Athlon64 2800+, but the case that I'm using has a VERY short clearance for the cpu cooler because of where the PSU sits. I've been hunting around on Newegg, but I can't seem to find anything that's the same height or shorter than the stock cooler. I've thought about just replacing the 60mm fan on it with another thin (but hopefully quieter) fan, but I'd much rather have something with an 80mm attached if it exists.

From the board to the top of the HSF is ~60mm. So subtract a couple for the socket and a couple for the chip I would say ~55mm.

i just got a thermaltake silent 939 for my NC 3000+ from compusa for 30 bucks. i searched around everywhere before i bought it because it seems like not too many people like thermaltake...except for some of their cases and big typhoon. i didn't find much about it on forums but ended up buying it anyway. don't ask why hah. overall though it's actually not bad. it decreased the load temperature by about 4 degrees, and it's seemingly quieter. the total height is like 60mm, and it has an 80mm fan. it's almost the same size as the stock cooler.
so basically, you get better cooling with more silence. i dunno if it's guaranteed that it'll lower your temperatures, but at least it'll be quieter.

Bait- hmmm that Silent 939 isn't bad, but it's a tid bit more expensive than I was hoping to find. So far thats best option i've seen.

Shadowknight-I wish that something like that w/ a 92mm would fit

still very open to suggestions..

are you willing to try cool and quiet? does speedfan work with your motherboard?
if so you could turn on c and q and lower rpm's of the stock cooler with speedfan. even better is if you get rmclock and undervolt. that way you can stay at a cooler temperature even on full load, thus allowing you to reduce the fan speed. i did this before, and with the stock fan running around 2300rpms it was much much quieter.

Found these: 1U coolers. Not sure where you can get them though. If you use one of the 'passive' coolers with a low profile fan, it should be good enough, as long as you have good case cooling. What case are you using? Would you consider getting a new case so you could fit a bigger/quieter heatsink?

bait- I do have C&Q enabled, and @ idle it usually sits around 3500rpm and 35C. I didn't know about those controllers for it, so I'll take a good look at those. Sounds like a QCE solution... Thanks!

2kfire- hmm those are interesting! i can't believe they're only 15mm :Q the thing that scares me tho is that it takes a 70mm fan (well the active one does). so a big fat quiet 80 wouldnt fit, and a not-as-quiet 60 would be attached in the center. hmmm. the active one is 36dBa (!) so that wouldn't be too nice on my desk

ok so now i have an easy solution for what i already have and an extremely thin solution... anyone have something in the middle? thank you for all the suggestions thus far!
