Things I've learned in Hong Kong

After spending a week in Hong Kong so far, here's a small list of things I've discovered:

• There are a lot of beautiful women here
  
  Tofu is nasty
  
  Pedestrians do not have the right of way
  
  When a lesbian Korean stewardess says she doesn't want to tak about it, it means she wants to talk about it all night long
  
  Seeing the sun or a patch of blue sky is cause for celebration
  
  Housing is outrageously expensive
  
  Most people in Hong Kong don't own a car
  
  The sewer system needs some work
  
  Eel with beancurd needs time to grow on me a bit
  
  Cell phones often ring at about 120 decibels playing either some odd Chinese pop ditty or Moon River
  
  The mass transportation system rawks
  
  If you ever meet a lesbain Korean stewardess...run...run as fast as you can

You should pick up one of those cell phone killers that was posted on here not too long ago. Like a walking EMP for phones or something.

From what I've heard HK has the ugliest women in Asia. Thats coming from several HK people I know.

I was there and this is true. However, put on a little makeup, show some skin and they're OK again.

Most of these are very true, except the two about Korean stewardess....

Wait till around summertime when you'll need 3 showers a day.

And around that time, the open-ended train system... it acts like a funnel so you'll get a nice dose of body odor all the way through. :thumbsdown:

One other thing... if you're a westerner... be prepared to die because you're too used to looking the wrong way when you're crossing the street.

Not trying to steal your thunder but here is my observation ...

Things I've learned while in Hong Kong
1. The women in Hong Kong are so-so.
2. Pedestrians don't have the right of way. People there get hit all the time.
3. When I was in Hong Kong, the skies were as clear as ever. It did rain a bit though.
4. It's humid as HELL during the summer months.
5. Housing is expensive but that's a given. Hong Kong is only so big and the place is crowded!
6. Sewage system isn't that bad. Taiwan's sewage system is much worse!
7. Everyone owns a cell phone. I believe all incoming calls are free there and other parts of Asia.
8. Mass transportation system is good in most of the developed Asian countries.
9. There's a huge misconception that English is commonly spoken in Hong Kong.
10. Kids, teens, and adults pick up weird English names for themselves. Some are common names, some are weird names, some are made up, some are objects, and some are even vulgar.

I guess you've never been on a HK subway. It was worse than the pee smell in NYC.

I've traveled to several countries in Asia and HK does have more ugly women than the other developed Asian countries. However, I think you'll find more ugly women per capita in the lesser developed countries like Cambodia, Laos, Burma, etc.

Szechuan, China has the hottest asian women per capita in my opinion.

Maybe overall HK has the ugliest women in Asia, don't know for sure, but in my travels around town I've run into a lot of beautiful ladies. Don't get me wrong though. I've seen plenty of ugly too. It's just with 6 million peeps in such a small area the chances of beauty and ugly (like the one-eyed, old lady that plopped down next to me on the MTR yesterday) seem to be a bit higher than elsewhere.

One thing here is that you don't see a lot of flabby women sportin' a super-sized J-Lo effect, and if you do they are usually American.

I guess you've never been on a HK subway. It was worse than the pee smell in NYC.

I grew up there and often use the subway. The subway there is so much better in term of ventilation....you are crazy.

Interesting... there certainly was ventilation... we got a lot of air blowing towards the other cars of the train... and body odor blasting through all the cars in an open system with that many people is no fun. Maybe it was a summertime thing ? I don't know what kind of ventilation would've prevented that... maybe they should consider compartmentalizing the cars. All I remember doing was staring at my cousin (who's also a NY'ker) and commenting to ourselves.. W T F ?! This cannot be normal.

What about the NYC subway is so bad besides the pee / tunnel smell ?
