Where can you get used ones for cheaper prices?

Just wait a couple months, FBB will wear out one of his, or it just "won't do it for him anymore", and you'll be able to get a discount.

Text messages. These cost cell phone companies near ZERO because it's small data packets travelling over an existing paid for data network. I read somewhere it's 4x more expensive per character to send a text message than to get information from the Hubble telescope.

what are you talking about?

<----unlimited text messages included in my plan.

How much more are you paying to get that over a non-unlimited plan?

guns, especially after Nov. 4th 2008.

food and drinks at amusement parks/events/etc.

i was at a gun show at the Harrisburg Farm Show Complex and the soda machines wanted $3.00 for a 20 oz. soda (even bottled water).

WTF?

What? He's right. Anti-gun democrat got elected, so guns started being bought up like crazy in case Obama changes/bans gun sales. Simple supply/demand increases price. What's the big deal?

Despite all of the times Obama has mentioned that he has no desire to take away anyone's guns, I remain baffled as to how this BS propagates itself. Are people still clinging to that "guns and religion" comment? You realize that had nothing to do with gun restrictions; he was characterizing how certain people react in fear to desperate situations. which was quite apt.

well hell, look up there. You even said "in case." you peons can't even make up your own minds about someone without assuming the democrat label means anti-gun. what the hell.

the prices may have gone up, but only because of the pea-brained reactionists making baseless assumptions. In no way is that Obama's fault.

From Change.gov:

# Address Gun Violence in Cities: Obama and Biden would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent.

That said, I highly doubt an AWB will make its way through congress as the backlash from the last one is not something the Democratic party has forgotten. Also the importance of a new AWB pales in comparison to the need to address the recession, the two wars we're in, and the restoration of our other civil rights.

Fucking movie theater popcorn. $6 for 4c worth of corn.

the theater makes about $0.03 per movie ticket sold. hence the high prices at the snack bar.

I thought everyone knew this?

Oh I'm sorry. Here's a free car that comes with a $40k steering wheel.

um. don't buy it if you don't want it? bring your own snacks? none of these options ever came across your mind? It's not really overpriced when it's the only way that business model can survive.

Look at the title of the thread. If you're gonna bitch at me for saying movie theaters overcharge for popcorn, then bitch at the people who say monster cables are overpriced too. Hey, they gotta pay for their marketing somehow right?

That's Monster, the company, and not the product--HDMI cables, that is overpriced. Plenty of business models do very well selling cables for their legit consumer price vs. cost.

The problem with the theater industry is that there is no opposing business model. It's actually a necessary price in that business, or you wouldn't be going to the theater to watch movies. Not that it's necessarily the theater owners' fault, either.

SERO BITCHES!!!!

I called and called Sprint about my SERO plan (which does NOT include unlimited txts), and they wouldn't budge an inch.

I suppose it's still a really good plan, but I would love to get free texts as well.

Maid service. We're looking for someone to clean the house we're buying before we move in and the ones I've been calling around here charge $80-90/hr (these guys are from craigslist). And they told me they have to use my cleaning supplies.

Have any of you ever gone to a rave? Especially one in southern california?

$5 for a bottle of 16 oz bottle of water.

$3 used to be the exorbitant "standard." $3.50 was pushing it at ETD pop 08 in SF this year, but go ventures and insomniac events are reaping in the cash at $5 for a bottle of arrowhead water.

Cologne. I can't stand (and therefore don't anymore) paying $50+ for something that costs <$3 to produce.

Fountain drinks. I know it costs pennies for each glass of this, so again I drink water rather than paying ~$2.50 for a pop at a restaurant.
