Check in with a couple of peeps that live up there. StotgunSteve & Matryx(sp) are two that come to mind.

There may be one or two others.

Much will depend on you transportation arrangements; where you will be and what you may be interested in.
Aluteans(sp) (KodiaK -> Dutch Harbor), SE (Juno), Gulf (Anchorage/Sitak), interior (Fairbanks), Bearing Sea(Nome), North Slope (Barrow), etc.

Alaska is not something that you can see in a couple of days.

Remember that if you cut Alaska in half, Texas would be the third biggest state.

Where in Alaska? I've been salmon fishing in Sitka, it doesn't get any better than that.

The best day out of over two years there was the one where we climbed a glacier. It was amazing.

Probably not the safest activity... but a blast.

The salmon are still running then, if you like to fish. Fishing at three in the morning in full light is an interesting experience.

I've read there are like a 100 men for every woman down there... so if you are looking for a guy, that might be a good place to start

I live in Juneau, which is quite a ways from Anchorage, but I would recommend Denali if you are into wildlife veiwing and maybe some hiking there too. You could probably find a company that does whale watching in the Anchorage area, there are a few pods of Beluga whales that hang around that area and no doubt some Humpbacks too.

It has been in the seventy degree range in the Fairbanks and North Pole area. Probably not that warm in Anchorage, though.

Kenai is a decent place to go if you're interested in fishing, though I am not sure what else one does there. If you are operating out of Anchorage, Denali National Park is probably a good place to go visit. The Alaska Railroad runs there daily, but I don't know if you want to take that route or drive yourself. The train takes longer to get there, but you get some amazing scenery en route.

You could easily spend a full week at just Denali National Park. If you like the outdoors, you will find TONS of fun stuff to do.

If you have time you may also want to Check out Anchorage and Fairbanks, just to see the huge contrast between a "mild" city, and one north of the Arctic Circle. If you go to Fairbanks, you may as well also go see the pipeline.

Have fun!
