Central Square in Cambridge has an awesome night scene. Just go to the area where the Middle East is. Plenty to do.

the best thing about getting wasted at the ME is that at 3 am when you are wasted you can stagger over to HI-Fi and think you are eating the best pizza in the world

<------------------ Former Boston resident. Here are a few must dos in and around the city.

North end is a must visit. Best italian food around. While there, go see the old north church and learn about Paul Revere and his 9 kids. Also visit Mike's pastry, which overrated IMO (but still good). http://www.oldnorth.com/ and (http://www.mikespastry.com/)

Science museum is cool. Walk there. Parking is a bi!ch and the green line sucks. While walking, marvel at the office buildings along the cambridge side of the Charles and think, "Man! Soxfan's office was in one of those buildings, until he gave up his river view to work for a startup in NH") http://www.mos.org/

Walk along the esplanade (bike trail along the charles river).

Go to the top of the prudential center (make sure its a clear night). http://www.prudentialcenter.com/

Eat lunch at Sam Lagrassa's. Best sandwiches in town (IMO) http://www.samlagrassas.com/

Tour Harvard's campus. Eat at the Miracle of Science Bar and Grill (MIT geek bar, get the Ronnie Burger) http://www.miracleofscience.us/

Take a tour of the USS constitution http://www.ussconstitutionmuseum.org/

Visit the Boston Common (oldest public park in america)

Vistin Quincy market and Faneueil Hall. If you can get a tour of Faneuil hall, do it. There is an awesome mural of Daniel Webster and other famous Americans in there.. Marvel at how after 220 years, they finally got the smell of the French out (Faneuil hall was donated to the US by Peter Faneuil, a French merchant). I keed of course.

The list goes on and on.

THANK YOU. I am glad to see that at least a former resident can agree with me. Mike's Pastry is overrated.

Generally a good list. Only thing I disagree with is your indication that Pizza Regina has some of the best Pizza in the city. Upper Crust is a solid choice tho.

i will never eat an upper crust pizza. the pizza recipe, although excellent, is stolen from sweet tomatoes pizza. an employee got his hands on it and opened the upper crust. i know you don't care, but i take every opportunity to point out the assholery. if you can, go to sweet tomatoes in newton center, newton corner or needham.

Please avoid Mike's. Go to Bova's instead.
Please avoid Pizzeria Regina, etc. Go to Ernesto's instead.

<-- the resident Boston expert.

*Visit North End, Boston's Little Italy for their cuisine

*Check out Quincy Market / Faneuil Hall. A fun tourist trap.

*You are in luck, Boston Common & Public Garden are beautiful right now with all the flowers blooming. Bring a camera with you.

*Check out the esplanade by the Charles river... so beautiful. Seriously Boston in spring/summer is the best. You can walk over from Boston Common via Arthur Fielder Footbridge.

*Walk down the Boylston St, it's the most expensive shops & restaurants are. Walk down Newbury St for bunch of art galleries and cute brownstone shops (runs parallel to Boylston)

*Museums: Museum of Science, NE Aquarium, Institute of Contemporary Art, Museum of Fine Art

*Fenway for a Red Sox game

*Grab a drink at Top of the Hub (50th floor of Prudential) for the most spectacular view of the city- live jazz band at night. $25 minium pp at night.

Boston is known as a walking city. Everything is so tiny and neatly packed. You can start walking from Harbor/Wharf area (Aquarium & Financial District) to North End to Quincy Market/Faneuil Hall, then naturally go over to Boston Common/Public Garden to Esplanade, come back to Back Bay (Boylston & Newbury), then you are all set.

Cambridge is the city on the other side of river. Check out Harvard Square for some hip scenes and the famous school itself, just hop on Redline and get off on Harvard Square. $2 and 15 mins away from Boston Common.

Cuisine:
-Regina Pizzeria & Uppercrust for best slices of Boston
-Grab clam chowder in Fanueil Hall
-Awesome dim sum at chinky town (China Pearl & Emperor Garden)
-Pomodoro in North End for awesome pasta
-Lobster in No Name Restaurant or Barking Crab
-Berryline is the best frozen yogurt. My friend's boyfriend owns it. They have locations in Harvard Sq, Fenway, & Porter Sq. Funny enough, my other friend Paul opened his own- Berry Freeze in Cooliage Corner in Brookline (damn entrepreneurs trying to tap the virgin froyo market in Boston)

Nightlife:
-Avalon, 33, Gypsy, Liquor Store (watch hot girls riding mechanical bull. my gf did it. :^D ), Umbria, etc

Agreed all around. Fenway is a must visit for any baseball fan.

PM me and we can hang out. I'm right in the North End, next to the old North Church.

Go to sunset, top of the hub. Do you want good sushi? run on the esplanade.

Yup, right next door.

Holy crap, didn't know this. I have been to Boston 3 times in the last year and I definitely would have bought you a beer. I'm hoping to make it there again soon, it's definitely in my top 2-3 favorites cities (Austin, Seattle, Boston).

That being said, all you Boston people fail.

HOW HAS NO ONE SAID HARPOON BREWERY. FREE. BEER. (on weekdays, weekends it's like $5 and you get the equivalent of 3 beers).

I could seriously gush on about Boston for hours. Honestly, 2 days I just walked around and that was awesome. North End, on the park above the big dig (Roosevelt?), Holocaust Memorial. What a beautiful city, especially this time of year.

Damn I need to plan another trip to Boston.

Didn't know that. As an IP attorney, that actually pisses me off quite a bit to hear about a company profiting (perhaps illicitly) due to the misappropriation of what may very well have been a trade secret recipe. Pretty shady thing to do.

For those that like beer, sushi, and a good donut, Boston has all you need in one spot on Cambridge st (across from the Old West Church):

Who cares....it's pizza. If there was a secret family recipe, then whoopee. There is only so much you can put into the time and process of pizza. If you want good pizza, go to Espressos in Lowell. Yeah, the city is a dump, but Espressos is awesome.

Park in front of the original Cheers, and get a big parking ticket.

Oh wait, that's a bad idea. Park somewhere else.
