I'm in Houston for work until June 13th, and I've been here a about a week and a half so far. I haven't done much, just getting used to driving here (I live in Upper Peninsula of MI, gimme a break ) but I went to a Clutch concert this past weekend.
So far I've got:
Houston Zoo
Pennywise concert on May 10th
Brazos Bend State Park
Might make a trip to Galveston, swim in the ocean?
Might go up to Dallas for a weekend to see my cousin
I'd rather not drive too much, the Dallas trip would be a little far. Within like an hour or hour and a half of Stafford/Sugar Land?
Danke.

i am *not* being sarcastic or facetious here, but there aint shit worthwhile in houston. there are , however , many good restaurants to go eat out in. a good option is to day-trip out to central texas and eat out at the famous barbecue restaurants. a a true city adventure, drive 3 hrs over into austin. there are lots of fun pubs and bars and natural attraction (hamilton pool, barton creek pool, parks, mount bonnell, etc) to see

Find someone who drives under 110 m/hr when not stuck in a traffice jam.
Haha. Well I may do that on a weekend for the heck of it. Can't go wrong with $1 beers! As for the "Drive around looking for someone who uses blinkers to turn or switch lanes", I do. Habit.Originally posted by: GrumpyMan
There's a lot to do in Houston like:
Drive around looking for cheap gas.
Drive around looking for a Freeway not under construction.
Drive around looking for someone who uses blinkers to turn or switch lanes.
Find someone who drives under 110 m/hr when not stuck in a traffice jam.
Find someone who drives over 1 m/hr when in a traffic jam.
Find someone who won't cut you off when you are the proper length between cars during highway speeds.
Good luck on any of the above.
The one thing that is great here are fine looking women. They are all over the place. Go out to Moe's in Katy on Thursday night. It's $1.00 beer night and all the good looking women that you can stand. Of course if you prefer rockets over the females then forget it.
I haven't explored much at all but yeah it does seem that way. Fourth largest US city (by population, I'm guessing).Originally posted by: MBrown
I haven't been to Houston but I have a bunch of relatives that live there and they like it. From what I hear Houston is MASSIVE.

Someone else suggested Goode Co. Barbeque, I second, third and fourth that.
I enjoyed it, but that probably had to do with the fact that Doug was my neighbor and we got a "special" tour.Originally posted by: Citrix

One of my favorite places to go (when the wife and I have free time) is the Mucky Duck. They have a cozy, intimate atmosphere that lends itself to the types of live music they have almost every night (country, bluegrass, Irish, and other genres). It doesn't hurt that they have pretty good food and a nice selection of beverages.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that on their music calendar, most times when you click on an artist it will take you to their website, where you can sample their music to determine if it is something you would like to listen to. That has been particularly helpful for me when deciding what nights to go there.
