Besides get my degree.

Going to Phoenix this weekend. Wife, me, and my parents. They go every year claiming they are looking for houses to buy and retire, they will never buy or retire.

Any can't miss fun stuff or good places to eat that will even be open this weekend? Staying in Sedona on Saturday night, and in Phoenix Sunday and Monday night.

Where are you staying in Phoenix? Its pretty spread out, I can make better recommendations if I know where you are staying.

Here are some of my favorite places to eat:
CORNISH PASTY - The absolute best
LGO
Postinos
Matts Big Breakfast
Frank and Lupes

If you like meat, I highly recommend Golden Valley Uzbek Kabob on the northeast corner of 19th Ave and Northern.

As well as the location where you're staying, what kind of things are you into?

A few miles from downtown is a nice little mountain you can drive up on and there is a great view. It is literally 5-10 min from downtown

In Phoenix staying at the Biltmore, it's one my my Dad's things, he loves the place.

Sat we have a jeep tour in Sedona and spend the night there.

Sunday, driving back down to Phoenix via Prescott, they always have some art fair of some sort my Mom likes. Maybe some sight-seeing up there, my Mom mentioned copper basin or something.

My Mom talked about going to Old Town Scottsdale, which I assume is just a bunch of shopping or tourist trap stuff.

Mainly just looking for quick look and see stuff, my Dad and I have pretty short attention spans for any all afternoon activities. My Mom can't walk very long distances, or be on her feet for hours on end, she had Polio as a kid.

Wife and I may be looking for something to do at night, a few cocktails and hanging out, that we could grab a cab to.

If you are coming back from Prescott there's the Joshua Tree Highway you can catch off of HW93. On the south end of Phoenix is South Mountain. Take a drive up there to catch some good sunsets if the air quality doesn't suck that day (AKA no brown cloud over town). There's a decent Mexican joint at the bottom called Los Dos Molinos you can hit on your way down.

Take a trip down Mill in Tempe and oogle some lovely ASU co-ed booty.

In old town Scottsdale there are a bunch of Native American jewelry stores. Its a nice walk around there. There is a ice cream parlor thats been there since the 50's called the Sugar Bowl. It's decent and the folks will probably like it. Also there should be an Oregano's Pizza near there, it's always worth a stop. If you are looking for something to do at night in Scottsdale there is the Hotel Valley Ho. It's been there a while and was redesigned into a retro 60's look. Cool place and apparently very happening at night. Have fun.

+1! Also in Old Scottsdale (this might sound strange) but theres a vinegar and olive oil store...Im telling you, if youve never had 10 year old aged vinegar, its not what you would expect. Its on the north side of one of the side roads off Scottsdale Rd, and you can do vinigar and oil tasting. Theyve got probably 50 different kinds. Its very very good.

I enjoyed just going for a walk in the desert, but this time of year that might not be a good thing. The zoo was also interesting, especially when my kids were younger.

Old Town is very touristy, but I still enjoyed walking around and having an ice cream there.

Lots of good Mexican food. One I recall was called Maricosa's or something like that, and it was very good.

Joes Real BBQ is great eating. Not sure if they are in town, but you could go watch the D-backs play.

I love these kinds of places. I thought I saw one kinda back in a corner of one of the little centers there. It was back behind the bbq/mexican joint I think. We try to get to the Queen Creek Olive Mill when we can too.
