Also, some sort of "go to last post in a thread" button would be nice. Until I started using a tablet I didn't realize how much scrolling one has to do to view threads when there is no end key available.

actually there is such a "button"..

if you look to the right, (next to DrPizza), click (or tap) on that right-arrow you see it will take you to the past post in the thread..

also in case you didn't know, that down-arrow just to the left of the thread title will take you to the last post that you read in the thread..

Every month there should be a poll for the worst poster of the month award.
The "winner" should be banned for a month, or 20.

This would raise the quality of posting here. As you can see by quick glance I'm sure you'll notice how abysmal it currently is. Oh and this should be for each subforum.

You can also have a best poster of the month award and they can get a little trophy icon next to their name or something but I don't care about that.

Some of the Führer’s physical ailments – the uncontrollable trembling of his left arm and hand – suggest, as noted earlier, a form of Parkinson’s disease, but mentally Hitler’s traits put him at least somewhere on the autism or Asperger’s spectrum, possibly with extreme pathological demand avoidance (PDA) syndrome, which can develop in childhood. Sufferers typically exhibit obsessive behaviour, a lack of boundaries, avoid everyday work and social demands due to their own high anxiety levels, and feel they are not in control. They often possess great communication skills, but in appearing charming when feeling secure, they lack depth in their understanding of colleagues and intimates, and suffer excessive mood swings, often switching violently with a ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ tendency, having real problems controlling their temper, which can take the form of prolonged tantrums and violent outbursts. Speer observed these increase in frequency as the war drew on; in one conference at which he presented unwelcome statistics, ‘That alone made Hitler nervous and angry. Although he listened, I could see by his expression, by the lively fluttering of his hands, the way he chewed his fingernails, that he was growing increasingly tense . . . When I had finished . . . Hitler was no longer in control of himself. His face flushed deep red; his eyes turned lifeless and fixed. Then he roared at the top of his lungs . . . Abruptly, he terminated the conference, cutting off all further argument.’

I couldn't agree with you more. People with a Ph.D. in Business Administration such as yourself have no qualms about plagiarizing other people's work.

Perhaps expressing your inadequacies is not the way to solve them? It certainly doesn't seem helpful in this venue.

It has repeatedly been stated that THIS THREAD IS FOR EACH POSTER'S SUGGESTIONS ONLY, not for arguments, back and forth, or trolling, including OT level in-line images.

The next poster who contravenes this will be infracted.

Please please please fix the Tapatalk plugin! Search does not work, nor does "Participated" work. It seems like you guys tried because things have gotten a little more functional but it's still not 100% working.

Lots of suggestions so far pertaining to categorical setup. Marking these down. Any others along the lines of bug fixes, feature requests?

Thank you. And please ignore all the requests for new categories!

We need more themes for vbulletin. The default blue is really fugly and outdated. There are tons of themes available for vbulletin and it should be trivial to upload them and add them as choices in the user cp.

I would mostly like to see a simple, compact theme (for those of us who like to browser the site at work). And a dark theme as well. Make sure the icons and smilies don't look like crap with the new themes.

Oh and another thing... in each thread there is a "View First Unread" link, which is great. But you need to already have the thread loaded to use this link.

There should be a "View First Unread" link in the subscriptions page at least so you can skip ahead right when you load the thread.

legal/law forum
That sounds like a good idea....Only if that happens there needs to be a posted disclaimer about free law advice....

My only point being people who need legal advice need to go see a real live walking, talking attorney who has been educated and been to Law School.......not the people on these forums!!

Even though we do have a few real attorneys on these forums!

Another thing I wouldn't mind is slightly bigger avatars. Currently:
The maximum size of your custom image is 80 by 80 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller).
But there's a lot of space on the right that could easily be used the current theme has space for 175px-wide images. And the height could be a little bigger. 100x100px is quite common on other forums. I'd personally like a maximum size of roughly 130x100px, but I'm open to whatever sizes you think might work best - especially with whatever new themes you might add.

The maximum filesize can stay the same. Also, if you want to save bandwidth on frequently-used, infrequently-modified forum images, you might look into lossless image size optimization software, such as ImageOptim, the individual programs it runs, and a command-line version.

The Moderator Discussions anonymity needs to be changed. Open it up for everyone to read.

All it currently does is allow bad moderators hide their poor decisions behind a veil of secrecy. Also it doesn't allow for input from any other members who may have been involved in what happened. But it does mean that bad mods can justify their bad decisions by getting fellow mod buddies to gang up on a member.

/this

redacted! i get busy for a few months and tons of redactedchange!

things that would really help atot.

1) get good mods. sorry the bunch you have now have issues. From top to bottom. they will say one thing and lie to cover thier ass. really makes the forum look bad.

2) Far to many trolls. When someone like Alky hijacks a thread and when you respond YOU get infractions? something wrong with that. having a thread hijacked just to feed a ego is not good.

3) combine a few of the forums. though keep news and politics on it's own.

4) weekly maintenance. its fricken amazing that a tech sight is so redacted. makes me question the reviews it gives. When i built my last machine i didn't read 1 article on the main site.

on that in the hardware and such forums there are far to many company shills. Since it looks like they are here to stay they should be labelled.

Oh and get over the fact some are at **** and why the redactedis it on a filter? ugh

To give you an idea of how bad the modding is here, I once got an infraction for quoting something a mod said. That's all I did; I reposted something a mod said and another mod deemed that a "mod callout."

When I pointed out that all I did was repost something a mod had previously said on the forum, she gave me a second infraction and a "vacation" for yet another "mod callout." That was my first "vacation" in almost 10 years of visiting Anandtech and I learned just how petty the mods could be because that same mod continues to look for reasons to give me infractions for complaining about her.

Anandtech has given too much authority to power-hungry nitwits, and yeah, if I posted this to another thread/forum, I'd get hit with another infraction for daring to say that the emperor has no clothes.

Here you go again.

This is a suggestion thread. This is not a rant thread where you get to callout the mods.

I just got done telling you you cannot use profanity outside the social forums. You just think you can continue to challenge the rules. Also, you are calling out the mods.

Just because you disagree with the rules doesn't not mean you don't have to follow them.

hey jpishgar

this is what he was talking about. you can't disagree or point out where the mods did something wrong without getting a infraction. This is the redactedthat needs to stop. It is and has drove away long time contributing members.

The Moderation discussion? yeah waste of time and resources. There is no possible way to have a meaningful discussion about the site because the moderation is a issue. When you bring it up you get infracted or banned.

for redactedand giggles if you can read "change of culture" thread.

This is a thread about suggestions for the forum.
Not about "I broke a rule, got infracted for it, and now I want to rant about it".

Another mod edit: Waggy, jpishgar has access to all of the threads in moderator discussions, and can discern for himself if what you're saying is true. It's not. I've reversed infractions that I have given after threads in moderator discussions. One of the most recent threads in there brought about that there was a misunderstanding between a poster and a moderator, and it was resolved very amicably. So, your claim that it's useless fails. I suppose it's only fair to also point out that when posters start off on the wrong foot in there- personal attacks and abusive language against moderators right from the start, that those threads generally don't result in much productive discussion - I personally don't waste time trying to have a positive discussion with someone who is demonstrating that they aren't ready to hold up their half of the discussion. E.g., "moderator Abc is a <jerk> I want him fired. I should have been warned, and I got infracted" won't often result in the outcome the poster is hoping for. -Admin DrPizza
