$10/hr is pretty good pay for a 15yr old in West Central Minnesota. Kid, you could be bean weeding or corn detasseling for less money and harder labor. Besides, they're not computer savvy, they'll be coming back to you for future jobs if they liked your work. Raise the stakes at that time.

I'm sort of stuck in a tight spot. It's the only "computer" job I can get in my town, and I don't want to piss them off and lose an oppertunity, but I just don't think it was justified.

I don't know. It's over, and I see the majority opinion. Guess I should stfu and cash the check

Of course I know &quot;too much&quot; about that area. I spent 18 years of my life growing up there. Things don't change over 15 years in those small towns. Now if you want to put that statement to the test....There's a &quot;wayside rest&quot; on a county road about 5 miles out of Granite Falls heading north. At that wayside rest there's an old well next to the outhouse. In that well, you'll probably find a couple of bottles of now 16 year old vodka.

I could tell you lots about your hometown! But I will cut off any communications with you if you're mother's 33yrs old and had the nickname &quot;Ma&quot; in highschool!:Q

Hey Paulson, remember, you got a check for $75 and that's without taxes. So in reality, you were paid around $12 before taxes.

I can setup a WinNT server w/ IIS in less than 30 minutes and I get paid just over $15/hr. for what I do. I am a Sys. Admin. in charge of over 500 client PC's and about a dozen servers ranging from IIS to Exchange to SQL and I run all of that for about $15/hr. One of these days I'm gonna find me a job that pays twice that with half the work load, but until then, I learn something every single day on the job and that's priceless.

Setting up a new WinNT web server (1/2 hour), $7.50

Running a defrag on the Private Information store (2 hours), $30.00

Watching a user who forgot their password skip off with a new &quot;secure&quot; password of ID10t after they locked out their account, priceless.

I don't know what the without taxes nonsense that people think is happening. I never get any taxes witheld when I do consulting work. Companies just file a 1099 and I'm responsible for paying esimated taxes.

Hey Blake, $10 an hour isn't bad for a 15 year old. You don't even have to make Car Payments, Insurance, Rent or gas. It can be spent 100% on good old Blake Paulson It's really not so bad amigo.

Like you said, you didn't get hired because you had a college degree or because you had certifications, but because your mom knew them. There's quite a difference.

If you did get paid as much as those that have spend hundreds and thousands on their degrees and certificates, then our college system would be useless.

Well, gas payments are something I'll have to worry about in the near future.

Also, I'll be paying for some stuff w/paulsonator.com (including my 2 major employees...... )

Anyways, the point I'm trying to make about the 4 hours, was that they WANTED me to show them how to set it, so I had to have them write down every step while I'm doing it. I don't care if you can set up a web server in 1/2 hour, when you have someone asking or jotting down something about every step, you know it's going to take a while.

And about this damn certification. Well, I doubt anyone in our town is even certified. I know the other guys that work there aren't certified, so you really can't judge me on that.

Now it looks like I'm not going to argue the pay, just some of the posts where people think it took me so damn long because I'm not &quot;certified&quot;.

I wasn't knocking you because you aren't certified, hell, I'm not either. But there is a big myth that someone doing that kind of work should always get paid assloads of cash. It's just not true anymore.

I get paid 60$ hr on the side to just consult (that means I just talk to em...hehe)

Ask for the pay amount up front next time or its your own fault what you get ..
