Think my Asus P4PE may be bad

I currently am using two of my DDR slots on the mobo. Everytime I drop one into the third slot, my machine won't boot up. I am using crucial 512mb DDR333 PC2700 ram. Two of them is fine, as soon as I drop the third in, it doesn't work. I know it isn't the ram because I can put any two of the three into the first 2 slots and it works. I updated the bios to see if that was the problem and still no luck. Thinking mobo is faulty.

I believe with that particular board (and lots of others), you have to relax your memory timings down to PC2100/DDR266 speeds to use all 3 slots.

The board is NOT faulty. It only supports 4 banks of RAM. To use all 3 slots, 2 of the sticks have to be single sided.

yes, its true, I bought 3 sticks of 512 mb DDR 400 and was forced to only use 2 at 333 for an exhange 2000 server that i built.

Thanks guys. I was just about to tear my motherboard out when I read that if I want to use all three slots, two of them has to be single sided ram. That sucks!

Try reading the motherboard manual - see page 2-11. It is very clearly explained. I am running 1024 GB of DDR PC3200 in mine - but they must go in slots 1 and 2 leaving 3 empty.
