It has been a long time since I built a new computer and wanted to hear some opinions on what I'm planning.
1. The computer will be used for mostly gaming, and possibly some video streaming.
2. I expect my budget to be around $2,000.
3. I'll be ordering my parts from USA. I prefer shopping at Newegg and Amazon.
4. I won't be buying anything
5. I don't have any particular brand preference except for maybe that I like Seasonic PSUs.
6. I'm definitely going to reuse my old keyboard, mouse, monitor, and headset for the time being.
7. I don't really plan on overclocking too much, if at all. Mostly because I'm lazy.
8. Current monitor resolution is 1080p, but I do plan on upgrading to a 1440p monitor in the near future.
9. There is no particular time frame that I'm locked into when considering the build.
10. I may need a copy of Win 10.
Old PC: ($2,071.24)
Case: Cooler Master Cosmos II
MOBO: Asus P8z68-V PRO/GEN3
GPU: Gigabyte Radeon HD 7970
PSU: SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold
CPU: i5-2500k
Storage: Crucial M4 2.5 128GB
Memory: CORSAIR Vengeance LP 8GB DDR3 1600
Current Build:
Case: Keep the old one?
MOBO: ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Hero AM4 $244.99
GPU: Vega? I will definitely need a new gpu, as my 7970 died.
PSU: Seasonic PRIME TITAN 650W $149.90
CPU: Ryzen 7 1800x $419.99
Storage: Samsung 960 EVO $479.99
Memory: CORSAIR LPX 32GB 288-Pin DDR4 2666 $269.99
Cooler: Fractal Design S36 360mm $119.99
Current Total: $1,684.85
Questions I currently have:
1. Should I reuse my old case? Pros? Cons?
2. I listed an AIO cooler, should I fear leakage?
Notes:
Why did I choose a Ryzen 7 1800x?
Simple answer is that I want it, and that's really all there is too it. I kinda regret not getting the i7 2600k back in the day, and don't want to repeat that scenario.
Why did I choose the ASUS ROG Crosshair?
No real reason. People seem to like this board so i threw it in.
