Thinking about cutting cable/internet entirely.

I realized this year I may have literally used less than 20GB this entire year using my 50mbit home connection. Everything I do is on unlimited Verizon (through work) and my wife through her unlimited T-mobile connection. I realize this now because my Wi-Fi router died last week and I haven't bothered to buy a new one yet.

I only watch TV in the bedroom with an antenna. Don't have a cable box there because I don't want wires around the apartment. I also haven't used my laptop or tablet in months. Both have been dead for a while.

All I use is my phone. So does the wife.

Anyone just went and killed off the cable bill entirely? No Internet or TV? I'll save roughly $80 monthly which I can honestly use these days to go out with the wife.

T-Mobile should also allow tethering or mobile hotspot if you want to use a tablet or laptop. I use that when my landline Internet goes out.

I couldn't do w/o internet but I've been trying to convince the wife to cut cable for the last 2 years. It's gotten to the point that we go to bed around 830 or 9pm and just watch shows on our phone or tablet before we actually fall asleep. If it weren't for football, and my stepson logging into xfinity in his dorm room to watch some shows, I think she'd be ok with cancelling finally.

No, we use our home internet all the time. It's essential utility for us. I'm ok with paying for the internet since we don't have home phone or cable/satellite TV bill. But it sounds like you don't need yours and should cancel. Try canceling and see how that goes. If you find you need it, you can always sign back up.

Should you cancel, make sure you tell them you're happy with phone service only. Should send a chill down their spine.
(Otherwise they'll presume financial pressure is forcing your hand.)

Between Dish Network for TV and Wave Broadband for internet/landline, we pay about $250/month.
We've considered dropping the landline, but since we rarely get more than 1 bar of cell signal, (and often just "1x") we keep it...

Y'know...that might work...IF I had reliable internet service. I swear, this Wave Broadband service is the most unreliable shit I've ever had...either their service is down at least once or twice a week...or I have to reboot their modem every few days because of some "hiccup" in their system...or.............It's unusual for me to have completely uninterrupted internet service for a week at a time...usually only a couple of hours, but a few times, their system outage lasts a couple of days. Sadly, my only alternatives are worse...CenturyLink has offered me 1 mb DSL, or one of the satellite internet services...but we're surrounded by tall pine/fir trees...and the only way I get Dish is by the strategic locating of 2 separate dishes.

20GB this YEAR? LOL - we have pretty crappy 10Mb DSL and we average 15GB/day. It was about 20GB/mo before my eldest went to college because he was a Netflix hound.

In your situation I'd probably dump it. And if you decide you want it back after a few months, you can probably get a competitor to give you a "new customer discount" and get it for $20/mo for a year.
