why on earth would you *not* get it?

i mean, assuming you can absorb 40 bucks / month after the first couple of months, it's the best thing since sliced bread!

If you have the cash to spare I think you should go for it. If you don't abuse the 4 months and maybe you will change your mind or get a raise. If you do get it, get a firewall to go with it.

Definitely get it. I always thought I'd never get it because I don't spend that much time on the net at home. But when I got an offer for a free trial for DSL I became hooked. Then I switched to cable and it's even better. It's so convenient, you dont' have to worry about dialing in and the speed is incredible. And this is only 1.2 mbps, imagine if you had even faster... Plus my wife and I can be on the web at the same time and be on the phone as well. I don't game online because I knew if I did, I'd never spend time with the little woman.

I can only dream of Broadband at home. However, surfing the web at work is great, considering we are on a T3.
I just don't see broadband happening at the house for a long time. *sigh*
I would go for it if I could.
Satellite is an option for my area, but a very expensive one. I don't think I can justify $99 a month. Or $70 a month if I buy the dish and pay for the $200 install.

Cable is actually costing me less than dial-up. Dial-up was $20 a month and my extra phoneline was $20 a month. For the mathematically challenged, that's $40 per month. Since I now have cable I can cancel the extra phoneline and the dial-up. My cable bill is $9.95 for each of the first 3 months and $32.95 a month after that. That will save me $153.60 in the first year.

well at work, they offer dialup, DSL, and alot of businness accts (ie DSL, ADSL, SDSL, T-1, T-2, etc). I get free dialup at home. at work we have T3 or whatever, its fast, we feed directly from the living lab server room..... very nice too bad we cant d/l anything.
their DSL is not avaible in my area.... yet. but cable internet just came to my area, so i was thinking of trying it. I think I just may. I'd only want it for doing Halo online with gamespy and downloading stuff when im not playing.

Well, then if your cable provider is decent, you'll have it for a lot longer than 4 months. Nobody with good cable service tries it and then gives it up.

Definately worth it, I've had highspeed for a while now and I can't even look at a modem. Was using Comcast cable modem for a while, only reason I switched to DSL was the scare about being without internet access when they lost the @home service. I'm going to be moving back though, my cable was a lot faster than the DSL I have, and at the same price. Only negative I can see with cable is that the speed will fluctuate, but I never really noticed it getting too bad, and when it's fast it's FAST.

I would at least give it a try for the first 4 months. If you do any amount of surfing you will notice a phenomenal speed increase and will become addicted.
