Yes, quit now. My god.

That's super common. Degree does not equal money.
Indeed. Degree doesn't equal anything except for "paper". The skills you have come from common sense (which you may or may not have) and job/work/life experience and training.

Question: What city and state are you in RaistlinZ?

Inland empire of southern california. My major bills each month are: Rent/utilities ($550), car insruance ($110), student loans ($140), gas ($80), cell phone ($50), food/groceries ($200), misc. ($75).

That adds up to $1205 each month if my math is correct, leaving you $95 of spending money each month on your target income of $1300 per month.

I was asking more to see what kinds of industry are in your area.

My advice. Don't quit until you line something up...

This may sound odd, but check the Universities around you and see if they have a placement office. You might be able to get an entry-level position somewhere and make at least $14-16 an hour using your degree and actually have somewhere to go. Having 5 years of experience will help you get in because they'll know you can be trained and function in an office setting.

Try to get out of retail unless you want to do retail management....and even then, tread carefully. Customer service isn't valuable work....that's why most is being shipped overseas and outsourced. Try to find something that will utilize your common sense and skills.

OP, what university did you go to? Maybe that's your problem. A lot of great schools in California.

Good advice about asking for a better job within the company. I lucked into my current work because I transferred from one dept into another. Try and schmooze with someone who could get you a better position. Good luck--It's tough to be stuck in a rut!

I'm a Senior in HS and I make $1.50 more then that. Time to find a new job.

Yea a lot of people at my school make more than $11/Hr.. but i live in Orange County though.

Wow, $11/hr with a B.Comm/B.Bus ... how pathetic. Do something with that expensive education man. By now you should've been making at least $70,000 if you knew how to use that degree.

If you hate the job, quit. A job that doesn't make you happy (or atleast a job that's tolerable at any rate) makes your life miserable regardless of how much you make. I don't mind my job, but I hate the work environment.

With a degree you should get the hell out of there ASAP, but I would only do it after having another job. I have this thing about making sure the kids have food and a roof over their heads.

Quit your job. Get a job working at night for UPS which will pay more. And then look for a real job during the day.

I can see you working at a Fortune 500 company in a Accounts Payable, Purchasing, or Finance department making a steady 50k(+) and 4 weeks vacation.

Time to go with your instincts as I think your skills are being waisted with a job a monkey could likely do.

Not everyone wastes money like a douchebag.

44K is easily live-able if you know what the hell you're doing with it.

Depending on where you live. If you live around me then yea its actually a lot of money. If youre talking bout NYC then i can easily see why hes struggling.

Yes, we all know that a business degree isnt a ticket to riches. But it's not a liberal arts degree, this is a business degree. Hell, he could at least work as a manager at a retail store and make more than $11 an hour.

QFT.

I laughed on the inside when I hear of people in CC debt, especially when they make enough to live. $44k + CC debt = stupid spending habits.
