Sometimes people don't realize the distances involved. Florida is not remotely close to NY or DC.
It's roughly the distance between Copenhagen and Florence, Italy.
A quick question regarding car insurance:
I've prepaid for car rental and it says it includes the following insurances:
* SLI (Supplemental Liability Insurance).
* LDW (Loss Damage Waiver)
* UMP (Uninsured / Underinsured Motorist Protection).
Do I need other insurances?
That's a lot of insurance included. I think that's the full boat?
A lot of credit cards here offer free insurance if you decline the rental agency's insurance. Maybe contact your providers and see if they do offer that for you when renting in America. Save a few dollars every day tha way.
In one month exactly I'm on US soil. Yay!
Good luck. Buy a pocket knife for protection
And bring it with me on the plane?

You don't NEED any other insurance but be aware your personal belongings are not covered under any of the above. That's a separate rental car insurance item called Personal Effects Coverage (PEC), typically a couple dollars a day.
Yeah, it's hard to recommend the East coast in the summer...
I live in DC and it's HELL here! The time to visit the east coast is more like April/May or October/November I think.
For the summer months, I would recommend something like:
Depart CPH for YVR (Vancouver, Canada)
Visit Vancouver (and surroundings)
Visit Seattle (and surroundings)
Head east over to Montana (Glacier National Park)
Then back west to HWY 101 via Portland, OR
Take 101 south via Redwood National Park to Napa Valley
Continue south via Berkeley and San Francisco (stop and visit for a while)
Continue south via Santa Cruz, Monterey, Carmel, Santa Barbara to Los Angeles
Do the touristy stuff in LA
End your journey there, departing LAX for CPH
Here is a sample Google Maps route based on what I suggested:
Air fare is not too bad. This comes out to about 6.200 DKK or 830 EUR, round-trip.
Maybe Las Vegas won't get as warm while you're visiting as it was there yesterday: 117 degrees Fahrenheit. Still try and get to Hoover Dam & the Grand Canyon, if your schedule allows.
I'm arriving tomorrow @ JFK. So beware!

I'll treat you to some real BBQ if you hit S.C.
Ignore zinfamous...clueless.
It seems that you are not stopping by Kentucky.
You are missing out there, my friend.
