I got back into PC gaming a couple of years ago and have not turned on my xbox 360 in 2 years. That also means that I havent paid for xbox gold in over 2 years. My question is this. If I do get an xbone and I assume I will need xbox live or gold or whatever they call it, just to get online and to retrieve my old gamer score and such. Will they charge me for the last 2 years or can I just begin with a new subscription and retain my gamer stuff? I just want to get a used xbone to play Madden 17 because EA sucks ass and doesnt make a PC version.

You don't have to pay to get access to your account AFAIK, just to actually play games online and such.

You should be able to log into your xbox account from a computer browser right now if you wanted. Then if you decide you want to start your subscription again, you just start paying now.

You can do everything except play online games without paying for Gold. There are some benefits like 2 free games per month for members. You can retrieve your account without subscribing to Gold.

That's not bad, it's the new model that supports 4k video streaming with HDR and UHD Blu-Ray too.

Keep an eye out on slickdeals for xbox live sales. Usually around the holidays they are $30-35 for a full year of gold. I got 2 years worth last holiday. It's worth it for the free games every month, plus it enables cloud storage on the 360. Currently I've been playing the fallout 3 digital copy that came with fallout 4 on both my xbox one and 360. Since it's a 360 game I can play it on my 360 in the bedroom, save my game, and continue where I left off on my xbox one in the living room.

I caved and picked up the 1TB Madden deal at BB for $349- also came with 4.5 months of live and a month of ea access.

On a side note I also got the 4K version of Batman Vs Superman- really, really nice looking on my cheap ass $400 Walmart 4K Tv (and not a bad movie either, I don't understand all the hate it got.

Anyhow, Hopefully Madden will be done downloading by the time I get home. I'm also looking forward to Netflix and Amazon in 4K. Overall a decent purchase for the price, I think.

If Madden is anything like Fifa, you can play some of the "online" modes like Ultimate Team, but only against CPU opponents.

Pretty slick system. Easy setup, my gold purchases from my 360 days transferred over easily without having to subscribe again to gold. May do so anyway to get the freebies. Havent played too much with it but I did notice some weirdness. Playing madden 2017 with headphones connected to the gamepad had sports commentators sounds coming out of headphones and not from TV, only ambient sound came from TV, Disconnected headphones but that didnt do anything. Havent found any settings. Also, installed Fable II this morning and the stereo directional sound was very odd. And one last thing, the gamepad is BT and when I shut down the one S I cant turn on the system with the gamepad.

When I get sound issues after connecting or disconnecting a headset, I always turn off the controller and turn it back on. Usually fixes it.

I would simply hold off on the whole Xbox One purchase if you have a gaming PC. Microsoft is supposedly making Win10 be capable of playing any XBox One game:

Turned out to be the Xbox one S system settings. By default it was on 7.1 for speakers. I havent hooked it up to my HIFI system yet and only have a 2.1 sound bar. Changed the setting to 2.1 and all is sounding ok.
