Thinking of going LCD-any suggestions?

Howdy all,

I've gotta move from boston to san francisco later this year and I'm not looking forward to moving my two Iiyama Vision Master Pro 19"ers. How is the state of LCD's today? are there any in particular that I should look at? Keep in mind that if I could make love to these to CRT's, I would, so picture quality is very important to me. I do everything from playing CS to coding to video editing to watching DVD's on these babies....

I personally have an old 15-inch Proview LCD. After using LCD for 6 months, I can honestly say that I will never use a CRT as my main monitor again. LCD are much easier on the eyes after many hours of use. Assuming that mycurrent LCD isn't as good as the newest generation, I only wish I can afford to buy a new panel.

I love my KDS Rad 5, but now I wish I got the Rad 7 instead.

how do videos and high fps games look on your lcds?

I have a KDS Rad-5, too. If games are in 1024x768, they look good. Everything seems fine.

Old games like StarCraft that run in 640x480 (?) look bad. 800x600 looks.. ok, but not good.

It's great for surfing, but not as great for games! What I'm eventually doing is using my LCD for surfing and my CRT for gaming.

For games, you more or less have to run at the native resolution of the LCD. For 15-in, its usually 1024x768. When I first switched from CRT to LCD, I really hated the LCD for games because of the infamous ghosting (I played CS when I switched from CRT to LCD). I still play CS, and even though I can notice the ghosting effects still, I pretty much gotten used to it.

One important sidenote is that my LCD is older gen, and I'm sure the pixel response time is worse (higher) then the newer ones that you'd be looking at.
