Thinking of purchasing Acronis True Image 9...

Is this a good program. I got in on the free download of True Image 7, but it doesn't support DVD burning. Version 9 does, however, i have tried ghost with DVD support with bad experiences. I thought i had an image backed up, but when my system crashed, i was left with a corrupted image, (even if the program checked the image), and couldn't restore my computer and had to start from scratch. I don't want to be ripped off again.

Acronis TI v9 is excellent -- well worth the $30 asking price.

The latest build is 9 (3677). It really is excellent. If you have a previous version installed, the new version can be a bit tricky if you buy an upgrade as opposed to the full, new program.

To upgrade, when it asks for the serial number, put in the new one. Then it will ask for the basic version 7 number - put it in. The copy and paste functions do not work, and they are working on that.

Other than that, it is solid, and DVD production is easy.

I've bought Version 9 Home. It seems that with the bootable CD, it does not support my SATA drive even after i did the acpi=off noapic line that the forums suggest. Also in Windows if i back up and verify my archive i get a corrupted disc (i've gotten 2 already). Any suggestions? Also, BlueWeasel, your version supports my drives, but i can't burn with a DVD. hmm...

9.1 wouldn't detect my SATA drive when trying to create an image with the rescue disk without installing it in windows.

My TI bootable CDs have all supported my 2 SATA drives ever since version 7. Make sure you select the full program on the CD. The latest build of Version 9 changes the nomenclature of the CD preparation slightly, but nochange in function. They now call it a "Rescue Disk" and I have never used it as that. It is my primary drive cloning tool.

I have never done the acpi=off etc. - it is irrelevant when booting to a CDR.

when i made the CD, it was full, it doesn't see any HDs at all, but the HD is there and boots into windows fine.
