Thinking of switching around HDs. Need advice.

Hi guys. Need your opinion on this. I am currently running on Windows XP. Since I have an "old" 4.3gb Quantum drive lying around, I was thinking of replacing my current HD with this one, format it and install Windows 98SE on it. The reason why I would want to do this is I would like to find out the full overclocked limits of my Athlon XP 1800+ and not screw up my current Windows XP setup in the process (yup, I screw it up once before).

My question is, after I am done with this experiment and switch back the HD to my current one, would everything still be running fine? Logically speaking, it should work coz as far as I know, no info is left over on the mobo when I switch off the comp.. but then I need to be sure.. Don't want to reinstall everything for the second time..

So what do you guys think?

It should work fine. I'm assuming you're taking the old HD out of the computer completely. The only potential problems would be if you manually put in the HD specs in the BIOS and didn't change them (if it's set to autodetect, then it should be fine) or if you change any other hardware in between.

Yup.. I will be setting the option to autodetect my HD and I won't be switching any hardware.. only my hard drives.
