Thinking of trying water cooling

Hi all,

Recently my room got quite hot plus I got some new components so my air cooling is struggling to keep my parts cool. Besides I can't stand the drone of the fans anymore! ( I have over 8 fans in my system).

However, I have zero experience in installing a water cooled system. Been doing my own installs for couple years but all those are on air. I have read some guides but none of them are comprehensive enough for me to start (perhaps I am just overly paranoid)

Anyway, here is my system:

Intel i7 920 (D0)
x2 BFG GTX295s in Quad SLi
CoolerMaster ATCS840 case (I checked and the top can be converted to take a 3 120mm fan radiator)
CoolerMaster RealPower M850 850 PSU (I might upgrade this if needed)

Can anyone perhaps help me out here by suggesting the parts necessary for water cooling my system? I have no idea when it comes to barbs and hose sizes etc... :S

Also I am worried as the two GFX cards are pretty close to each other. I am looking at the EK VGA Water Block but not sure how to hook the hoses up since the are so close together.

Thanks for any help/advice offered.

water is not difficult.

Its only difficult the first time around, but after that its fairly simple and easy to understand.

The system you want is going to require a massive amount of radiators, because of your quad sli + i7.

The GPU blocks alone will probably push you over the 300 dollar mark.

Did u do all the research as in part wise?

Yes, I did some reading up (excellent guide here on AT) and did some basic research for the blocks for my GPUs and CPU. It's around £250 for them both since I looked at the best ones.

However, I got lost as apparently I need to know the flow rate etc etc. I am not sure which pump, reservoir, barb, hose ID etc to pick... Also not really sure how to wire them up.

edit: I need more than 1 radiator? :0

For best performance you are going to want to seperate the 2 295's from the i7 920. This means two seperate loops. Each loop would need its own radiator, blocks, and pump/res.

You are obviously a Brit (the £ sign in your previous post is a giveaway ), so here's some UK water cooling websites:

http://www.thecoolingshop.com/
http://www.candccentral.co.uk
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/
http://www.chilledpc.co.uk/
http://www.over-clock.com
http://www.coolercases.co.uk/
http://www.watercoolingshop.com

Unfortunately, you will not be able to buy everything you want from the same website / shop (believe me I know).

Edit: ChilledPCs are the dog's gonads of shops; I've ordered quite a few things from them and they have always been superb. I highly recommend them (and their prices are reasonable).

btw I am in no way affiliated or employed by or have family connections with the owner / employees of ChilledPC, so the above statement I made is entirely my own recommendation and I am not benefiting financially from the aforementioned recommendation. That being said, if anyone from ChilledPC would like to make a donation to the daw123 beer fund, then all money is welcome
