Just ordered a T60 last night.

2.0ghz c2d
1gb ram
x1400
60gb
dvd/cdrw
6 cell
14inch sxga

For about 1200 after discounts and tax.

One question though, why the hell is the estimated ship date 1/16/07!!!!!!?????? I'm not even going to get it in time for spring semester =/

Many people say the estimated ship dates have been far extended from their actual ship dates. It's postulated that Lenovo is giving a worst case scenario. So, it's very very much a YMMV situation as far as that goes. In my case, it was assembled about 4 days after I ordered and shipped the next day, a Saturday. I received it the following Monday, exactly one week from the day I ordered it.

The sale's been extended until 12/18, but there have been some changes. All I know (I haven't poked around) is that the free memory upgrade is dead, but they are throwing in a free case. I've been following the Lenovo T60 holiday sale thread at Fatwallet.

I was about to buy the T60 during the previous sale but it ended at like 10pm on the 11th. I figured I had until midnight so I brought up the site after doing work at school. Low and behold everything was at full price again. Thankfull, the sale has been extended. It does cost a bit more but at least they throw in the case. The 7% that fatwallet gives actually helps A LOT.

Are they like Dell in the way that they will have a similar sale after this one ends on the 18th or are sales few and far between for them?

Grrrr - I had one of these in a shopping cart last night but decided it didn't make sense for me financially, in spite of the fact that my ****** Dell 600m seems to be dying. Today I had my annual review and I'm getting a nice raise and a second bonus this year that would easily make this affordable. I tried calling Lenovo after work to see if they'd still give me the sale price, but their sales office was closed. I guess I'm SOL. I'll have to keep my eyes open for T60 sales over the next few months . . .

Woohoo, mine shipped today on the 19th from Hong Kong. Strangely, it says the rescheduled delivery is the 21st? Weird. My case seems like it will get here on the 28th. This is also strange since it says that it is being shipped from the US. :/

Nm, I see they gave me EXPRESS shipping for my laptop and ground for my case.

Sorry I didn't realize the student EPP had ended also.

Thanks, man! I think the latter link is what I need. The customizability is a little limited, but I'm thinking about getting a fully-loaded T60 widescreen - all of the ones on those pages seem to have XP Pro and a 3-year warranty, which makes them a pretty damned good deal based on the prices.

I just hooked up my new T60 to my power analysis system and see it's drawing around 25-30 watts on the adapter, depending. Not bad. Probably more when doing something intensive and not just using 2-3% CPU, etc. I have T5500, the integrated graphics GMA950, 5400 60 GB HD, 14.1 SXGA+.

The AC adapter appears to draw 3 watts when the system is powered down but remains plugged into 120v AC.

It's VERY quiet and I was expecting it to generate a lot more heat. Maybe it will when I get it cranking. No dead pixels. I ran Dead Pixel Buddy against it today, and the screen appears perfect.

Looks like a pretty good deal to me. You'll want the 9-cell battery though, if you plan on using it on battery much. My Z61m WSXGA+ X1400 gets 2-3 hours on the 6-cell; kinda annoying even if I just want to use it on the couch.

Thanks.

You actually can't get a 9-cell battery using one of the EPP programs - they only allow you to customize certain aspects of the machine. I'm thinking I might buy an expansion-dock battery as a supplement instead, which preserves the clean form factor of the 6-cell battery. I seldom use my optical drive on my laptop anyway.

If you click once on the battery maximizer taskbar icon, go to the "Show" menu, and choose "Wattage when on battery," it will show you the approximate discharge rate.

Yeah they don't have full customization. Word about the Ultrabay battery: it adds ~2 hours and it discharges first. So if you have that in and your main battery, the Ultrabay battery would discharge first and that kind of negates the benefit IMO.

9-cell should be ~$100 on EPP, worth it IMO!

I would think you'd always want it to work that way (that is, the main battery to discharge last). That's how my Dell works.

I guess I could buy a 9-cell battery separately and eBay the 6-cell one. We shall see . . .

Check out this thread. There are enough EPP programs that you might well qualify for one (I do because I have a Discover card).

Thanks! That thread is great.

Two questions: what is the hyper memory? It varies on each configure. and is it possible to eliminate any specs that are set in description? I can't find one without wwan.
