Have you try it?
It weight alot more then other HSF due to its 99.9% copper.
But it won't feel like somebody is mowing their lawn inside your computer.
and for $20. you can't get anything better than this,
if you still concern about the weight, the Glaciator II is lighter and better, but I prefer save $14 and go for the first version.

Glaciator: 690gm = 1lb 8.34oz
Glaciator II: 590gm = 1lb 4.81oz

Glacitor I vs Glaciator II

How anyone can recommend or cite OCZ with a straight face is beyond me.

This is a 60mm high RPM fan.......stay away.

Can't touch a Pal Alpha 8045 (80mm+low RPM=less noise than a 60mm), nuff said.

Glaciator I (slightly outdated) was VERY heavy, but extremely easy to install. It cooled very well, I was getting 48C full load when it was really hot during the summer (sorry, don't remember ambient/case temperature).

It was a little noisy, but nothing like the Delta.

The Glaciator II is not the best cooler available; you can find more powerful and more expensive coolers.

Is this a Socket A HS? I have a Thermaltake Super Orb that sounds like a small jet engine on a Duran 750! Driving me nuts!!

It's definitely NOT better than the Alpha 8045.. maybe the 6045.. but hell the damn thing has a 6800 RPM fan.. way to loud for my tastes..

LOL. The 'Glaciator' is an underperforming waste of a pound of copper

Even worse, it is sold and marketed by a group of second-rate idiots (OCZ). Stay far, far away.

Several places sell the bare Alpha PAL8045 for ~$30 ... much better deal.

Me too, but those reviews are from overclockers.com. Very informative and totally unrelated to OCZ. It looks like the Glaciator is being sold by Millenium itself not OCZ. Another review. You are gonna be hard pressed to convince me to get rid of my SK6 though.

I think they got Overclockerz Store and overclockers.com (not a store) mixed up. In case anyone has not visited overclockers.com I highly recommend it for PC enthusiasts. They have some great Ed-itorials and don't just regurgitate the same crap like most of the big hardware sites you normally visit. Probably the only site besides this forum that I make a point of visiting daily.

The only way I would recommend this deal is if you absolutely could not afford to spend more than $20. The Alpha 8045 with a similarly quiet fan is at least comparable in performance to the Glaciator, and you have the option of putting on a louder fan if you want better performance. Definitely worth the extra $10 to $20 in my opinion.

I too got my Pal-8045 from SVC @$29(as well as three other orders since for other goodies, great people to work with!)

I mounted an speed adjustable Enermax 80mm fan on it, running at 3050rpm I see 37C Idle, 41C Load on an AthlonXP-1700 mounted to a MSI KT266A Pro2-RU in a Antec SX800......

Plenty of head room for overclocking....and it's silent!

Get real, get an Alpha if your board can handle it.....

This isn't the best performer, but it is pretty quiet... The install is easy, but you can crush your core with it, it is HEAVY! For $20 I don't think you can get a better heatsink. For about $40 you could get an Alpha 8045 and fan, but if that's more than your looking to spend, this is a LOT better than a Thermaltake POS!

I paid $40 for mine way back when, and I don't regret the purchase...although now I could get my Alpha...

What are you talking about? This is GLACIATOR, not GLADIATOR. See the difference? Totally different products and companies. Glaciator is made by Millennium-thermal while Gladiator is made by OCZ, and yes the Gladiator is indeed not very good.

So there is no reason to "stay away", you see?

from anandtech:

Installation and clip

The Glaciator is excessively heavy - it weights 710 grams, which make it the heaviest heatsink in this roundup. Nevertheless, it comes with a clip that uses only two of the six mounting cleats on the socket - so there is a high risk of breaking off the heatsink when moving around the PC. And you can imagine what kind of damage a 710g copper block will cause inside your PC case once it's broken off during transport. The manufacturer is aware of this problem, and therefore recommends to uninstall the heatsink before moving the PC. Definately not practical. Fortunately the clip at least allows easy installation and deinstallation. Millenium includes genuine ArcticSilver II thermal compound with the Glaciator.

Performance and noise

The Glaciator is less noisy than the coolers equiped with 7000rpm Delta fan - nevertheless, it outperformed most of these (except for the Thermalright SK6 and the Jag Cooler JSC-212). We think that it was a wise choice of Millenium Thermal to sacrifice a little cooling performance in order to achieve a slightly more bearable noise level. The Glaciator still isn't a "quiet" heatsink, but its performance/noise ratio is good. Only the Alpha PAL8045 with Orix fan provided similar performance at an even lower noise level but the Alpha does not fit motherboards for Intel CPUs, and is more expensive. The Glaciator costs only $34 (including Arctic Silver II - keep this in mind when comparing prices), and also fits most motherboards for Intel CPUs. So, if you can live with the limitation of not being able to move your PC around without first uninstalling the heatsink, then the Glaciator is a good choice. We'd be more enthusiastic about it if Millenium used a better clip which takes advantage of all six pegs on the CPU socket.

I am very happy with my 8045...

<< I heard this HSF sucks, and is a heavy core crusher >>

well, i hear that it has hands and feet and runs around the computer.
just be careful. it is a good hsf, and unless you are stupid and careless you aren't going to break your core....
