Kind of interesting to see how the perception has shifted on energy. Hillary said that coal was going down with or without her (this has happened) and lets help those people retrain for relevant work and was called a bitch. Biden states his intent to help the country transition off of oil and barely a peep.

Trump thinks for some reason that he got Biden on that one because his brain is stuck decades behind the country. Texas and Oklahoma did everything short of a low intensity armed conflict with each other to land the next Tesla plant.

Wasn't that part of what stemmed the Learn 2 code meme?

It was ironically funny as shit coming from moronic people that are paid < $30k to write stupid click-baity articles with no factual basis. Many of those places have cut their numbers big time and many have fallen - so it was pretty comical to laugh at the stupid bloggers writing absurd shit about jobs.

The fact of the matter is this: Things like coal mining and other rural-type jobs are just simply some of the only jobs left. What are you going to train everyone to do in rural areas? Become trade-skills like plumbers/electricians? GREAT! Now a rural area with few residents has a bunch of people with a trade-skill with little demand.

What do you think we can feasibly do to rural towns that have had the market swept up from under them courtesy of a government that has no problem supporting (and not punishing) outsourcing?

We saw the same thing when standard factory manufacturing went away and was outsourced to China.

We saw the same thing happen when car manufacturing in rural areas went away and were outsourced to places like Mexico.

These cities won't have a leg to stand on after these jobs go away.

And what is the government supposed to do about it? In your opinion.

LOL
These guys were watching Football and bounced back and forth?

Pundits have to say something positive, that's what they are paid for. Personally I only endured about half the debate-frequently leaving the room because I've developed an allergy to Trump which triggers my Tourette's-but I do agree Trump did a very good performance (for him), appearing for the most part sane and even logical (to an extent). Many days late however.

But the biggest takeaways for me were (1) Trump's covid plan remains a fantasy of wishful thinking and (2) Biden scored huge points in the kid's in cages segment, with his honest and unplanned outrage that this behavior was done in America's name while Trump yet again was so callous he completely missed why any human parent is absolutely shocked at what he INTENTIONALLY ordered done (and apparently is still being done).

I don't see any votes shifting as a result of this debate at all.

Great moderator and better debate. Trump failed to answer the failures of his administration, but did a better job of jabbing Biden, doesn’t change the trajectory of the race. Based on the final debate, I reluctantly submitted my ballot for Biden yesterday at the dropbox.

If I recall correctly after Biden said 525 kids can’t find their parents, Trump replied, “Good”.

That’s definitely going to drive some fo the few remaining undecideds away. (Plus anyone else with a conscience)

Demanding the jobs come to you is a losing proposition just about every time. Doubly so in places that depend on single industries. We've moved several times for work. Coal mining except for met will essentially cease in 10 years due to market forces. Coal miners have lots of relevant skills for the construction industry so I'd generally propose we build a lot more shit (housing, renewable energy projects, infrastructure).

If you want to see where the rust belt auto jobs went one need not go as far south as Mexico. Try Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, etc.

These cities won't have a leg to stand on after these jobs go away.

Following the track of every single product town since time immemorial.

Irony considering Biden's albatross is supposed to be that he's a 50-year old as fuck politician and stuck behind the times.
For a 50 year politician he's remarkably up on the times is the truth of the matter. He listens.

You have not noticed your self edging closer to the radical right over the 6 past months or so? Its not everyone else. Its you, you are moving.
Oh and its Poor Boys now.
He used to make sense sometimes. He earned a spot in my ignore list a few months ago and it's well deserved.

And even there, automation has decimated the number of jobs auto plants actually generate. We have a $1.6 billion-with-a-b Mazda plant being built in Huntsville. It will employ "up to 4,000 workers". That's ... not actually all that many jobs. We simply no longer live in a world where you can have cities of people employed making cars. No amount of demagoguery is going to change that.

"good"

Just in case you'd forgotten: cruelty is the point.

wut? You can't just see someone's lips slightly move and then assess what they said with no actual basis.

How the hell that looks like he is saying "good" (and that it's a response to Biden) is beyond me.

I mean - just fucking say the word "good" right now. Unless you're saying it in a different language at no point does your lower lip open that much.

Basically the story across all industry. Mechanization drastically reduced the number of humans required and now automation is eating those jobs for more complex products.

He's not saying "good".

He's saying "go ahead" to the moderator and it's pretty obvious.

Saw people talking about this yesterday and was like WTF do your ears work?

I mean dude is a complete scumbag and probably would say something like that, but let's not make up stuff like he does every time he opens his mouth.

I'm also hearing that as "go ahead" not "good." But Trump's other statement on this point demonstrated his complete lack of empathy where he thought everything was fine because it is clean where the kids are locked up. He's truly clueless.

I heard Trump say it directly after Biden said what he said, while watching the debate. Going to believe my own ears on this one.

Just imagine

1820 - We weren't forward thinking to coal
1920 - We weren't forward thinking to oil
2020 - We aren't forward thinking to renewable/green energy

So, your mind turned one syllable into three & the long "o" sound in "good" into the short "o" sound in "go". So it really should be "goo ahead", or what?
