sad sad game, but sortof fun, trying to fight against all odds

Getting tired of everyone stealing my damned livestock though.

Haha, I agree. I was worried I'd have to do something weird with crop rotations or something.

I'm trying to figure out the tools.
Your normal income is twice the crop price....ie...wheat costs 2, you gain 4.
With a shovel your crop price appears to be *4-1....ie...wheat costs 2, gives you 4 normal and gives you 11 with a shovel.

Dunno what all the other stuff does yet though.

I was having fun, but its obvious the game is set to make you fail. I was doing pretty good then the National Bank collapsed.
I lost everything. I had nothing and $0 money. How dumb is that? So I not only lose all my crops, but they take my money and equipment too.

The game suddenly seems pretty damned stupid.

It was kinda fun but obviously they have thos events to set you up for inevitable failure. I just planted every farm square with Peanut and then bought two of those shovels expecting a big profit that year then I got the sickness in the family event so I got nothing

No, no they dont. You cant sell a well. Its a hole in the ground. Cant exactly say "Hey, give ya 5 bucks for the hole! Just move it over there"

first try (and probalby only till i get some reading done) yielded me a health sixty eight dollar profit...I would have easily netted around 100 dollars more , but when the round finished guerillas came in and took everything.

i found the easiest part to be diversify as much as much possible. kill off all my wheat? Well I still have three others. Cause a famine that kills all the crops? I still got two chickens.

Though I think its extremely cheap that you get screwed easily...
oh and to win I had to TWICE accept chemical waste on my land, and it killed one of my family members.

edit: lvel 14...civil war destroyed me.
easy to make money in the game providing you diversify...but its SOOOOOOO easy to lose it all

And if I get raided by guerillas I can drop some money and buy some AK-47's to be better prepared next time they come around.

I cant keep my shovel and I see no "AK-47" option.

It seems any time you make decent money, it throws in an event that makes you go completely broke. The first time I didn't start making decent money (>$100) until the 7th turn and then the 8th turn I lost everything. The third time I played, I made $278 by the 4th turn and immediately afterwards they put in an event to make me lose everything.

This game doesn't seem very realistic at all. Sure it's hard to make good money farming in the third world but you aren't essentially killed off once you do start making money.

an ak-47 will only make sure that they kill you, thats the real world, you wont stop them unless you have an army... a bigger one

This is VERY realistic. This is the situation in Eastern African countries like rural Ethiopia and Somalia where they are now figting over water. And they have had a drought for 2 years. On the Somalian/Ethiopian border it is VERY real to have your cattle stolen or family members killed by cattle raiders. Also 100.oo us is the average annual wage for these farmers. Anything below 400.oo per year is extreme poverty - a # set by the US. I have relitives that live like this....its not too funny.

Sorry, but a subsistence farmer probably wouldn't "lose everything" if a family member got fatally ill. That's pretty much the only reason for failure in this game. But I haven't seen the International Bank close down yet.

EDIT: Just went through my third sickness in one game. This game is kind of silly, and really misrepresents whatever hardships it tries to portray with gimmicks like these.

bank collapses and my well fills itself in? i don't get it, if the bank collapses shouldn't the value of the stuff i grow go up?
